Morning chaps.
Bit of a long shot here really.
I have a little point & click digi camera, this one >
(I can't find the exact model but i have the 10mp one, it's black & maybe a year or so old).
It was working fine, until the other day when i came to use it & it would switch on for about .25 of a second & switch off again.
I thought the battery was dead so i charged it & it still would'nt work.
So i bought a new battery, charged it & then put it in, again it turned on for about .25 of a second & shut down again.
I thought it might of beena duff chager, so bought a new charger, charged both batteries i have for it & tried again.
It does the same thing again, switches on for about 0.25 seconds & turns off again.
It's never been dropped or kept in the damp etc so i have no idea what it is.
I presume a loose connection?
Is it worth even getting this fixed or is it going to be easier just to buy a new one?

Might be worth checking for stuck micro switches on anything that opens or, possible, some dust of some sort on the sliding cover/on-off switch. Bit of a long shot here really.

Have you tried a reset? Does it have any start up processing that switches it off if, for example, no memory is installed during start up processing. Is it a camera that can be powered by a USB port for downloading and, maybe, taking shots? If so, does that work?
In the family I've had one camera that failed to operate properly after start up (loose connector in the lens mechanism fixed under warranty), one from a different manufacturer that has similar symptoms but is out of warranty so have ignored it - you can't get at anything in the sealed lens mechanism as far as I can see so that is that. Then one (actually the first one mentioned once again) that succumbed to a small amount of water ingress (apparently 'the cats' knocked over some water and it went unnoticed for a day or so) through the area where the carry strap lug was fitted ... which just happened to be exactly where the circuit board tracks for the power supply from the battery to the processor resided partly unprotected by any coating. Result - vanishing tracks and no power.
If it costs less than, say, £100 to £120 to replace it with another than I would replace. Fixing is never going to be cheap via an authorised repairer, IMO.
