OK who holds the record for the most texts / emails / facebook messages about the police supposedly pulling you over from today if you had snow on your roof? I received 5 texts, 4 friends facebooked and 1 email.

Yes looking out at the blizzard and chaos thats out there today I can just see all the plods blocking the only open lanes to give you the 3 points as promised!

(and yes, I clear my roof anyway)

I watched a 4x4 slow down coming into Aboyne yesterday only to have the 1 1/2 foot of snow on the roof slide forward onto their windscreen. They had to stop immediately in the middle of the road to get the windscreen clear...

I have seen a few vehicles (mostly high 4x4s) with 2+ feet driving around the village - you do wonder what thoughts go through these people's heads.

I think the answer is - not many!

I do hope that these muppets do get fined, maybe the text campaign is a clever way to get them to think for a change?

I've not received one of these texts so I guess only sensible people have my number? Not a chance!

The little horrors from the local school have used all the snow on my car roof to make snowballs so I don't have to worry. What is quite disturbing is the amount of people who are taking a garden brush to their roofs and bonnets. I'm sure their paintwork will look great with all those scratches!

I'm not sure these DU50 charges would stick if someone tried to challenged the fine in court. The police would have to prove that the snow wasn't secured and there was too much of it? Hmmmm

Motorist always seen as a good easy target in this weather. Can't get many drivers for speeding so lets get £60 quid of them for driving with a bit of snow on the rood!!!

Of course if someone has 2 feet of snow on the roof Give them a bollicking, but handing out £60 fines all the time and 3 points is not always the best form of policing.

Just get pissed of with the motorist bearing the brunt, enviroment(increase road tax), economy (increase petrol costs) policing cost( increase fines on the motorist) we are seen as a cash cow..

ON STV news apparently Strathclyde have issued a statement today saying that the contents of this text/email is rubbish and that it is incorrect in what it states, but they do recommend people clearing their car roof.

Wish the WH Malcolm lorry in front of me had done similar, must have dumped half a ton of snow on the road in front of me!! smile
