Hi Folks;

We could soon be after a good AWD estate car, would prefer to buy new or an ex demo, maybe a year to 18 months old if it's mint (wifes criteria smile).

It must have a good amount of space for pram, car seat shopping etc. Not huuuuuge though, something mid sized (Volvo V70 would be a bit big if that helps).

Budget will be around £20k.

It's not the demographic of car I usually look at so I'm looking for some informed inspiration please smile

Cheers,
Hip

Legacy is a good shout, as is the Forester. Alternatives are the AWD Volvo, Audi A4/6 Quattro. Failing that you are into 4x4 territory.

I like the scooby legacy (I used to have an old one too) smile

My wife doesn't like any of the recent/current range of scobbies though frown

The Octavia and the Audi are both a good call. Maybe an A4 for extra space but is there a Haldex version without getting a fire breathing model?
Would like a diesel if poss! paperbag

How about Volvo, what in the range is AWD (I love V70's). Had a hire car V70 for 3 weeks 3 yrs ago and it was the 2.5 Diesel turbo, brilliant car!

Erm, is the XC70 new enough and/or in budget?

Eta just realised you mention the V70 specifically as being too big redface

Dont think you are going to make the newness part on an A4 quattro estate.

My choice would be from a legacy and the octavia scout which I have heard great things about.

Yes, that's my thinking too.

We could possibly stretch to £23k.

Then if we spend that much, we could pick up a brand new top of the range 4WD Sportage with all the goodies and leather. The new one looks a brilliant car, I had a nose around one the other week.

But we currently have a 2008 Qashqai which we may be looking to change and the new sportage will only be a little bigger inside, hence we are considering an estate car.

The Octavia you posted above is perfect (IMHO), just would like to have leather too.

As in a Kia Sportage? Madness to buy a newie at 23k when you can get one less than a year old for 15k?
