Hi All,

We had a new kitchen sink and tap fitted (mixer/mono-block type), which from Ikea a couple of years back!

The tap was always a little bit of a pain as it had not aerator to "de-fuse" the water coming out. Insted the water comes out in thin stream, which is a real pain as it splashes everywhere.

Mrs. Ice finally put here foot down and wants a fix.....she wants a £150 tap!!!

I was hoping for a little fitting as the tap is working fine.

THE PROBLEM: The tap has no screw on the inside or outside of the opening...where the water comes out.

I have searched high at low and it seems that 100% of the tap aerators are screw on or in?

HELP, is there a push fit alternative? It measures 19/20mm.

I've never seen a push in aerator, but plenty of flow straighteners which is what you have.

Be a bit careful, though, as most kitchen taps are biflo these days so that hot and cold water don't mix in the body of the tap (it's actually tank-fed and mains water they are avoiding mixing). For this reason many taps WILL give a thin jet out of the centre of the spout.

Are there a service valves(yes I know Ferg doesn't like them) in the pipework, you could try slowing down the flow somewhat.

The flow is not the problem but insted the thin stream of controlable (flow-wise) water.

Got it! The cold water comes from the outside edge of the rim and the hot water from the inside! There is no space to fit a difuser/aerator?!

So you don't burn yourself and you're in for a new tap I'm afraid.

Or you could try telling Mrs Ice that there is a position between 'No water' and 'Full blast'... Female personages of the alternative gender seem to have trouble with this concept, whether thermostats, gas hobs etc!
