Hi guys, with all this bad weather coming our way was wandering if anyone has had trouble starting their Impreza's. Mine struggles to start when temperatures drop, is this a common problem and is it anything to worry about?

Could be a sign that your battery is going flat? Have you been using it daily or leaving it for a week and then driving it for 10 mins or so? My battery started ti go flat over summer through not much use but has since back to life with being used every day over winter.

Have been using it one and Off but it seems to be related to the weather

Mines a bit more laboured in this cold weather( GB 270 saloon) I've just got a brand new varta blue battery to be on the safe side, it's still a bit laboured when the temperature is sub zero. I've checked the alternators charging properly , it is, so I guess it's just a characteristic.

Mine seemed to turn over a little slow today too, thought it was perhaps the battery a bit tired.

Great in the snow though smile

I had the battery replaced not long ago also, good to know it's not anything serious, cheers

Same here, I turn the ignition and the revs drop for a second before picking up again on startup. Only happens at cold temperatures so assume it's down to the battery, and possibly the fact the car only does short journies which do not let the battery charge properly.

I've just sold my 95 WRX. I only used it occasionally and it definitely benefited from an overnight battery charge in the winter. I found the best way to start it in any weather was to just turn the key, no pedal at all, and it normally started first turn.
Fantastic car in the snow we had in January, never got stuck once.
