Is there something out there that will reliably send audio wirelessly from my laptop to an amp?

What are you trying to do? Get the mp3 collection to play over the hi-fi?

If so you want a Squeezebox or a Sonos.

Small application runs on the PC, and you basically tell it where your music is kept. Squeezebox plugs into your amp/speakers and streams data via wi-fi from the PC to the SB. SB decodes the data into music and outputs to the amp. Control via the laptop, iphone app, dedicated remote or touchscreen depending on which version you get.

Sonos is similar but more expensive.

Squeezebox is a brilliant piece of equipment. Can be had for quite cheap on eBay.

Its worth noting that the zone bridge isnt always required as you can plug the zone player into the router, its only use is for if the router is out of the way or if you wish to extend the Sonos's mesh network in a larger system.
If its a cheap solution the op is after then there is no reason why you cant use a cheep video sender (intended for wirelessly sending sky upatairs) and just use the audio connections.

^ Good point I just always assume that clients routers are in areas where music isn't required!

Already got SQBs for playing MP3s.

This is literally just for playing media on the laptop and getting the sound out of decent speakers, wirelessly.

Dan

Are you using Itunes to play the music? for £60 you can get an Airport express to connect to your wireless network, and links a 3.5in into any set of speakers / system and play from your laptop wherever in your house. Also, any Iphones / Ipods will see it too automatically and play through them (on latest OS)

Hope this helps

For any other programs, you can install Airfoil on the laptop to work with any program (IE or any other) direct over the Airport express speakers

I Use it for You tube etc, works fine.

If you're wanting cheap, and aren't too fussed about sound quality, have a look at the link in the first reply if you haven't already... when I tried mine, there was quite a distance from sender to receiver though a couple of walls...

If you're gonna be quite close, it may be fine for your needs....
