A very positive development in TF class. First appearances looks like a well funded entry... top ten NHRA car ! New driver into the fray. More competition.

Sorry, I can't recall Chris Andrews racing in FIA Top Fuel. What year did he compete ?

A few years ago now, he's the star of the infamous "why top fuellers need a throttle stop during the burnout" photo that Santa Pod have used in a few of their promo's.

I think he did all the races outside of the UK with Knut in 2004 if i remember rightly.

Then he did the Main Event in 2005 and had the burnout incident Lee mentioned above and was not seen again.

Not for the FIA races. He was crewing for Knut in 2004, but he did drive at some non championship rounds. He drove at Piteå that year and I think another race in Sweden somewhere.

Main Event 2005:

Gary Page qualified 6th
Chris Andrews qualified 9th
Joran Persaker qualified 10th

Come eliminations day Joran raced as an alternative as neither Gary or Chris made the call... All three were racing cars from Knut's stable... Was there a conspiracy? Make your own minds up, I know what I think (know)!

Joran then threw it all away by rolling through stage...

We could indeed have the possibility of some very strong TF fields in 2011

so who do we know is racing so far...maybe

Urs,Anita,Andy,Risto,Micke?. fair to say they are all highly likely to be there.
then we have the Andersen's car and now Chris Andrews

Stig?,Jari? & Janne ??? be good to see Timo run a full tour?,maybe Lex will be back.

i also remember reading that Hakan Fallstrom and the team that were at Mantorp were going to try for the tour in 2011.you also have Monica as well with a new car.

On the downside, if the ladder is 8 cars, and 12 turn up, even i can work out that 1/3rd have had a wasted trip, that cant be good when trying to impress sponsors, there have to be winners and losers but if i was backing a TF team who didnt get to even compete my money could easily go elsewhere quite quickly

I remember seeing that somewhere too, but surely accidents can happen anywhere, or is there more to it?

stig made a decent pass that got him into the field got well past the finnish line then Risto crashed into him, in the ensuing mess stigs car went into the other lane and the officials said that pass diddnt count as he was not in controll of his car and crossed the centre line even though it was after the finnish line after he had been crashed in to there by strangely enough some may say there was two fins in the final,
Stig is prety pissed about it
Risto managed to repair his car and took the no 1 spot
I dont see how the car in the right hand lane will ever win as they have to cross the centre line to get to the return road!!!

Long story short, his time on that run (which would have qualified him number one) was thrown out, despite Risto having crossed the centre line and hit him. Both times were dq'd, and as a result Stig was a dnq. The official who made the decision was alledged to have been either tipsy, asleep or both at the time of the incident.

I hope we see Stig back in Europe. I really do...

Thats the second mention of the procedure for cars exiting the strip into returns roads (see promod thread?) is this something that should be addressed by the event organisers?.....

drivers have only a very limited field of vision surely?

Both cars were doing over 290 mph at the time, not negotiating the turn-off...

Cheers for clearing that one up, seems like yet another dodgy decision has been made, along with all the trouble you are having in pro mod, does anyone really know the plot? I thought once passed the finish line the run was logged and counted, otherwise our 6.76 at flame and thunder wouldn't count as we glanced the wall, technically out of control, though no where near as bad as what Stig encountered
