Any dentists in the house?
Discussion
Just got back from 2 hours in the dentists chair after what I can only assume was a botched job of removing a wisdom tooth (one that was growing at 90deg pretty much).
They sent me back home because I was getting tired after losing a lot of blood. Half the tooth is still in my gum (just the root as far as I know) and I am going back on Tuesday, but I'm wondering what the situation is from a dentists point of view.
Whats the deal with half the tooth still remaining in my gum? The dentist resorted to using a hammer and chisel method, where from what I could tell, she drilled into the side of the tooth and then put a chisel like implement there and tried to strike it away. She tried to use the pliers at times, but it seemed like she couldn't get enough of a grip.
I'm not exactly worried, just a little concerned. And I should add that this is all based in Vietnam, which adds to the concern a little
Is this thing pretty common and a simple job to remedy? I'm supposed to be heading out travelling in 10 days or so and don't need any hassle beforehand.

I remember my dentist used to bandy around the idea of getting my wisdom teeth removed a few years back when I was a teen. But now I wanted them out because they are growing at 90deg into my current row of teeth.
Food continually gets trapped deep in the area where it meets the row of teeth which along with decay is always causing bad breath.
In addition to that, a qualified acquaintance told me that 90deg wisdom tooth can turn pretty bad in later life and its worth just getting them out, so I thought I would do a bit of dental tourism while I'm out here.

no chisels at my gaff...
Aren't there? There are at mine. And hammers. Big f
koff hammers.
I do play hard rock music in my surgery. No joke.
ETA Hope it goes ok on Tuesday OP. You could always take some antibiotics and get the root taken out in the UK if you have doubts.

I'm just gonna finish it off on Tues and get it over with. I'd rather have it clean out for the next 2 months I'm here.
