What is the differance between the two and which would be the best for general veiwing purposes (no gaming).

We currently have a samsung 32" LCD in the kitchen but the wife and daughter want to change the tv in the lounge which is a philips match line pixel plus and I think is a superior picture to the samsung.

Is an LED a better picture than the LCD and nearer to the philips pixel plus, also is it worth having one with an SD card facillity.

The backlighting technology is all that is different, an 'LED' set is basically a LCD that uses a LED matrix for a backlight instead of cold cathode tubes. As for picture quality thats a personal preference, the LED's tend to be vibrant but sometimes a bit o/t.

last week i just bought a 42 inch panasonic plasma.

on a friends large lcd, the lag and motion blur when watching football was pretty noticeable as the camera moved quickly from side to side.
This was despite his tv being 200 Hz
Plasma doesnt appear to suffer from this.

Until recently I always saw plasma as obsolete technology which it isnt
