I have recently found myself in love with Estates!!! I think it all started when my brother bought his Civic Aerodeck VTI!!! Man that car is amazing, and the LWD has been very handy in the snow!!! And now I want my next car to be an estate... Which is quite pointless, a simple 5 door hatch should do, but i dont know why I want an Estate... Its like a Hatchback but longer!!!

Could possibly just drive my car until i've saved enough monies for a Subaru Legacy or Forester!

Is it wrong that I dont need an Estate, I'm only 21 and want an estate???

Depends what you are planning to do in the back of it?

Well.... I have a soft spot for estates too....
at 19 I bought myfirst aerodeck vti (check the "crash pics" threadon the last page)
then at 21 I bought a volvo 850 t5r and played with it a bit, what can I say, by FAR the best/fastest car I owned. Oh and the least economical smile

I'm now back in an aerodeck only this time in vti-S model with lsd etc< awesome!

Go for it mate, estates are not only for coffin dodgers if you ask me they're the muts nuts

Seduce young ladies with a leoppard skin blanket on a lilo in the back... Nah, well I'm wanting to take up mountain biking in the summer and snowboarding next winter... So it wouldnt be too much of a waste. Apart for that I only travel long distances (more than 50 miles each way) 3-4 times a year...

Well I've been trying to convince my brother to sell me his Aerodeck if I sell my car! But he doesnt seem the keenest... Although I have seen a blue Aerodeck which I like not too far away from here... Would like the VTIS but they're like impossible to find a good condition one... (or non fake one)

Aerodeck would be ideal, quite economical. No better or worse than our ep3 type R

Not much slower either. I've found the insurance to be pricey though 'cos of the Honda badge

especialy as it went up^ £200 from my volvo mad

Definitley a thumbs up from me

You're not alone. I've got a thing for estates, particularly leftfield ones like the Lynx Eventer, the Bentley Flying Star and (on a somewhat more realistic level) the Alpina Tourings.

There's nothing worse than stumbling across an epic road in ideal conditions but being stuck in something boring because you need more practicality than a normal sports car or hatch can offer.

Insurance is a bit of a bummer... But with the Aerodeck it seems a bit cheaper than 3dr VTI's.... biggrin but its still an extra £200 on top of what I'm paying... All Honda's seem to be more expensive to insure... EP3 for me would be close to £1200, I'm 21 with 3yrs NCB... Although if I do the quote in the summer its usually cheaper by a couple of hundred wink

I heard from someone that the 1.8vti engine is similar to the one they use in the ITR? But just different tuning?

Think it could be the sleeper aspect which I like...

Although I have a friend selling some ITR Recaro's which I'd quite like to pinch off him if I get an Aero... biggrin

It's fundamentally the same engine, exact same engine block.

All the other parts are different though. You've still got a lot of fiddling potential though, if you so wish. ITR engine performance parts will fit, to an extent.

Slightly worrying - I'd hit my 40's and had two kids when the estate bug hit. Good excuse to buy a brace of 300bhp V8 Mercs, mind you.

I bought my 1st estate at 22, haven't had any other type of car as a daily driver since.

Once you own an estate you will never ever consider going back to a saloon/hatch.

(I'm not saying all cars should be estates, coupes, roadsters, cab's, obviously have their place but as a daily hack estaes are the only way forward)

It's a Stagea. I'm not sure what the correct nomenclature is, but I think it might be an R34 Stagea GTR technically.

I think the Scimitar is owned by a PHer coincidentally. Not usually a massive fan, but that one looks stunning.

I've always quite liked estates myself actually! I've actually been thinking that when I upgrade the daily hack next year I might get myself an estate of some description!

Back when I had the S4 Avant that was awesome - nobody sees you coming in an old Audi estate hehe

If you've got a house/dogs then an estate is a necessity IMHO.....

But at your age it was 2 seater sportscars all the way for me....

Lol, I'd love a 2 seater sportscar... But I frequently take my nephew and niece on day trips ect... or have friends in the back of my car... So I require at least 4 seats... Even my little Ignis is a big squeeze for space sometimes!!! And a nightmare for long distance travels! :P Or else would have a thread in place of this saying "Just spun my MR2 360d off a roundabout... I'm bricking it"

Well put, sir! They are always somehow less obvious than their saloon counterparts.

OP, the Civic Aerodeck is a very, very silly car. I don't mean that necessarily in a bad way. But it is possibly one of the funniest mismatches of engine and body shape ever conceived. 70-odd in 2nd at somewhere over 8000rpm... in an estate? They are expensive to insure and run for what they are, though.

Edited to note that you already know that as your brother has one. Sorry, should have read better.
