Well all I can say it makes the drive to work all the more interesting.

Gradual acceleration leaving a roundabout = drifting fun at 5-10mph. This morning I was totally sideways (but in control - much prefer it to Fwd mega understeer in snow).

ESP - works wonders too wouldnt buy a car without it a genuine potential life saver & I'd say it should be law that every new car has this as std (and accept the higher purchase cost as so many lives could be saved).

RWD+Snow = fun fun fun.
RWD+Snow+someone who isnt a good driver = accident waiting to happen.

I love RWD in the snow! Drive steadily and you can keep up with most things. Give it a little prod when no ones around and get an ear to ear smile on the go. Never had so much fun at well below the speed limits

This morning I saw someone in a Mk2.5 MX5 exiting a side turning at about 45 degrees like a complete hero.

He must have been doing all of 6mph at the time. driving

Well I drive a BMW and have only ever driven this RWD in snow - but I dont think chassis dynamics play too much at 5mph drifting - and boy is it funny say barely over idle and off you go drifting.

Note how come Auto's dont have the snow setting any more?

The Camaro's due back from the body shop any day now.

370 ft/lb tourqe, big back tyres (with not much tread on whistle), LSD, no abs,esp or traction control, oh, and non servo brakes eek

Hoping there won't be too much ice/snow around or it might end up as a round trip back to the body shop.....

I remember many years ago, driving my Renault 5 GT Turbo in the snow. The front wheels would break traction, causing the revs to go up, which then caused the turbo to spin up biggrin

Wide tyres, with no tread and that much torque you'll be lucky to get moving at all!

Also, it's lbft, or ftlb, no '/'

smile
Same torque as me there well I have 369lbft - mighty fun

Argh!!!! Scary!!

I've spent most of today driving around Bournemouth, nice clear roads. We've had lots of snow last night (about 15cm which is a lot for Bournemouth!) but there's plenty of salt on the roads so they're pretty much all clear and safe enough.

However, I just went to pick my girlfriend up from work in Lymington, the New Forest. Scary stuff!!! Dark narrow roads, unsalted, several hills and tight corners. It was very scary and very dangerous and not fun at all. I then approached a mini roundabout on a steep downwards hill. So, well in advance I drop it into 1st gear and let the car slow itself down, but it was steep and it wasn't slowing down quick enough. Uh oh, there's a car approaching the roundabout from the right and my car isn't just slowing down quick enough. This is getting scary now. So, I need to stop and the engine braking isn't slowing the car down enough, unless the car approaching the roundabout stops - he doesn't. So I'm forced to put on the brakes at about 5mph which didn't help!!! Just ABS pulsing and not really slowing enough. Cue me skidding into the roundabout in slow motion!!! So, I lent on the horn to warn the car who was now just on the roundabout that I wasn't stopping and his pikey wife then leans out of the window and calls me a wker and shouts to me that's it's their right of way and why am I beeping them!!!!

What?! Of course I know it's their right of way!!!! I'm telling them to cut the roundabout (one you can drive over) or stop as I'm going to hit them!! I did stop but it was past the give way line. Still enough space for the other car to squeeze through, which he did, without stopping.

Very scary and made me realise that even at walking speed an accident is all too easy on an icey hill when you need to stop. The road just hadn't been driven on much, no salt and the snow had started to turn to ice over the evening. I'll be taking a different route to work tomorrow. frown

shibby!

My car is stuck at the bottom of my hill abandoned.

Got an MR2 turbo, its got LSD and is mighty fun in this snow!!! Its actually a car that can be drifted in the snow!! Wish i could drive that car like that in the dry! hahah.

Good fun, but the fat tyres and good amount of power and torque doesnt make it easy!

Funny though as i would have said my last Mr2 turbo was fantastic in the snow!!
