So I have just got my logbook for the Spitfire and opened envelope to find it is red and states 'this is not proof of ownership' on the front.

Only needed the smallest amount of research to find out that these are the new logbooks change in August. But it wouldn't hurt for them to say that in a short letter would it? Seriously how much time/money must they waste on answering calls from people who think they have just been scammed!?

The red V5 does look pretty frightening too!

Stupid idea I think! Oh well rant over!

No box for you to tick if "self scrapped" either.

They had to change it because a huge pile of blank old style ones got nicked.

And because prospective buyers should see the new v5 and think twice about who the owner of the vehicle really is .

Babu 01's 2011 prediction.

These are only a stopgap before the V5 is done away with entirely and DVLA find new and interesting ways to fine us for errors on their data storage systems.

I got mine for a recent purchase the other day as well and I thought I was scammed for a minute until I realised it was genuine. Anyone coming to buy a car who hasn't seen it before may also start worrying you don't own it !!!
