With so many schools being closed around the country, should the teachers (and other public sector workers) who can't get to work, be out clearing the snow from the side roads.

After all we're the ones who pay their wages (I expect they'll be paid whether they turn up for work or not), so it makes sense for them to actually earn their money by clearing the roads so that those of us who work in the private sector can get to work.

PS I've been out clearing snow on my road.

PPS My wife works in the public sector, and since work is only a mile and a haf away she's been walking to and from work.

It would be cheaper to grind them up and use them as grit IMHO.

No, but we should round up the dolies and people on incapacity due to a slight headache to clear it up.

Oh fk off! The public sector bhing is getting pretty boring now.

WHY should all public sector workers double as council workers?! We have road clearance people to clear roads (and a big thank you to them for working hard to do so)...and if you like paying wages so much, employ more! Or is whining about people who work as teachers, soldiers, nurses, police etc just another way for you to feel superior to someone?! Compensating much? Also, if you're so high and fking mighty about paying for things, fking pay to train more people to clear the fking roads!

If we're taking your stance on all different sector workers taking the strain for their sectors fk ups, should all private sector workers pay more taxes to help bail the banks out?! The banks are public sector and they monged it so maybe you should all take some of their pain! Yeah, only works one fking way, DOESN'T IT?!

I'm a soldier, and yeah, I've been clearing fking roads and car parks, because all you fking (private sector employee) civvies (since we're lumping people in groups today) who are employed to clear the snow around here can't do their fking jobs properly. And last year, we were out til fking god knows what time pulling you all out of the fking snow you weren't prepared for. Where's the thanks for that?!

What do you do for a job? I'm guessing either directly of indirectly I pay your wages too...hows about I criticise your fking work and tell you to do more?!

Fist yourself. And stop talking st.

Maybe not all teachers, but certainly the multitude who have been crowing and gloating on Facebook over the last few days about having "free snow holidays" from work.

8.5/10

Not enough variation of swear words, and no fractions, percentages or hypotheses. Obviously heartfelt, though, hence the 1/2.

Oh, and I haven't seen a gritting lorry since the day before the snow started.

Chaps, in order to avoid this kind of envy-driven upset in future, why not simply quit your miserable existence as efficiency slaves in the private sector and come join us in sponging off the hard work of others as teachers? I'm sure you've got what it takes. Even if you haven't, you'll find that matters a lot less than you'd think.

Long holidays, good pay, excellent security, a great pension and all the joy and wonder that working with children can bring. I can't understand why you're still out there, embittered and angry, when such a wonderful alternative exists! Go on, do it. You know it makes sense.

We sent you from the cold into some nice warm desert countries like Iraq and Afghanistan to warm up again. Now that you've warmed up, get back to clearing snow.

If teachers should be clearing snow, what about the pupils? I'm paying for the education so if they aren't learning get them cleaning up snow.

And then there are pensioners, it's only -10c. Lets get them out working form there winter fuel allowance!

That's right, because the only public sector workers are teachers, police, nurses, etc, isn't it? Which one are you?

ETA: Sorry, should have carried on reading hehe

So those public sector workers, who work for councils, you'd object to them becoming 'council workers' and clearing the snow would you?
