When i rang Adrian Flux for an insurance quote after getting one from them previously on a celica gt4, they told me my quote was now £3059 not the £1200ish they quoted me before, so i asked why it had gone up so much, he said you hadn't got a quote on an import turbo before, i knew the last one was definitely an import so i told him this, he said it wasn't a turbo though! they are all turbos. nice to see an insurance company that specialise in high performance imports know what they are on about eh? now i can't afford to buy the bloody car! nice one Adrian Flux, lots of overtime and saving wasted. thanks.
And also how many GT4 drivers out there won't be covered if they need to claim because Adrian Flux have them down as a non turbo?

Why don't you try other firms? Quite possible that someone can do a better deal than Flux.

I don't think you can blame Flux for this...

I have just taken out my policy and they beat every price I had been quoted.

I hope you get a better price, as that does seem inflated over the increase this year. Maybe the details were incorrect previously, but never found out?

Specialist my arse! Maybe specialist at being effing stupid and ripping people off.

I remember being quoted something silly at one of their Japfest stands.

My premium has shot up from £660 to £1870 this year on my E36 325i so I feel your pain, albeit not with Adrian Flux.

It seems to be working out okay though. My Dad's car has died so he's going to use the BMW until I can afford to insure it again, and I'm on the lookout for a W202 Merc C200 Auto to use in the meantime.

Try Footman James. I've just renewed the Ferrari insurance for £834.... Adrian Flux couldn't get anything below £1600!!!!

How can one insurance company charge a decent amount, and then another charge double? Had to change from previous insurers too as they no longer insured under 30's anymore. Even though I've had the car 3 years and never had an accident or claim!

I was quoted £700 on elephant.co.uk for a GT4, not an import but definately turbo charged. Didn't buy the car in the end anyway.

They can't be blamed for me doing the overtime and saving for ages but not knowing that GT4s are turbos? when i got that quote the first time i thought they were actually quoting me on the car i was telling them about, not the one that doesn't exist.

Everyone is different I guess as they have just offered me a good quote for the Chimaera.

Paul - just remember that a good quote doesn't always mean a good company to deal with in the event of a claim. It'd be worth trying MSM Insurance, they beat everyone hands down on my T350 and I know what they're like in the event of a claim as well.

Fair comment, but I feel a little attached to AF as they have insured all of my cars for a few years now. Cheers for the recommendation though smile

If it's over 10 years old, try Classicline - they're cheap for me anyway, and paid out no question when I bent my Griff. I'm sticking with them as they're a known quantity, and seem good value.

It's only a rip off if you buy their insurance and find the same product significantly cheaper elsewhere, the OP hasn't bought anything, so he hasn't been ripped off.

For good reason, I imagine.
He could buy the same product cheaper elsewhere. I did.

Why would you imagine some good reason for Flux to be quoting me silly?

Flux were useless for me since they allow nobody under 19 anything larger than a 1.4-litre - I laughed, told them what I'm trying to insure, and went to Admiral instead, who suit me down to the ground.

That said, even though they're not for me, I still hear plenty of recommendations for Flux.. How shocking is it that insurers have specific profiles they like to insure and ones they don't? If you're not an attractive prospect to them, they'll ask for a silly premium. Spend the time you put into this thread shopping around and becoming a happy man again smile

Very...except, er, isn't that just what they do? You pay according to profile anyway surely?

Agreed.

Not along the same lines BUT our house insurance is with Hiscox, and always will be, simply because of the quality of service we received when we needed to claim a few years back.

It is often IMHO worth paying that little bit more to have less hassle in the event that you are unfortunate enough to need to claim.

AF quoted me online £125 odd quid for my bike (in garage, London postcode though). However, when I rang them up to take out the policy, it magically jumped to £400 odd quid because the policy emailed was no longer available, computer generated the quote in error. It was magically available two days later in a follow up email (after I insured through someone else), cos they sent the same £125 quote. Cynical me says they do this so you call, then can't be arsed to ring anyone else due to stupid hold times. Just generates bad feelings tbh, probably won't go with AF again.
