Hi All

Can the exhaust manifolds on a 2.8 cologne engine be used on a 3ltr essex engine without modification

Cheers

A 2.8 Cologne engine has a total of 4 exhaust ports, an essex has 6. Swaymar did some 3 port heads (exhaust) but I'd be amazed if the manifolds from a Swaymar engine would go anywhere near the essex unit.

So is John my friend!

An Essex was a properly designed boat anchor. A cologne 2.8 wasn't. the later 2.9 reverted back to a 6 port 3 per sided design, the 2.8 had 6 ports but 2 per side were siamesed. The exhaust manifolds thus only have 2 outlets per side.

Great that makes sense, the 2.9 is also different from the essex?
