Xbox - red ring of death (RROD) where to fix?

I have 2 xbox’s with the Red Ring of Death.

These are my daughters that I would like to get fixed before Christmas if possible. I don’t mind sending by courier to anyone who can do this.

I have emailed a couple of dodgy looking website that claim they can repair them, but never reply to my emails.

Can anyone recommend where to get repaired?

Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes per Xbox. I fixed my old 360 with one of these kits very recently while I was waiting for Microsoft to warranty my other unit.

Thanks for link . My xbox went all to pot a few months ago and I have missed warranty expiry date. Will try this kit. £16 quid is worth a try...although there is a guy local offers to fix it for £20, hmm.

Have you missed the regular warranty, or the extended RROD warranty that Microsoft put into place?

I sent my Elite back this week and they just dispatched a replacement. I only fixed my old Xbox as it was a very early model and was out of the three year fix period. (It had been languishing in a box for a year or so)

I can do this if you dont want to go through the hassle of fixing them yourself. I think ive still got enough of the parts needed to do 2 xbox's.

3 yr RROD I will try the above fix...

I've just gone throught my 5th Xbox they just don't seem to last and i don't spend hours and hours playing, all have been recon'd this time its not a RRD problem its just not loading the game so have had ro resort to buying a secondhand one on e-bay for 75 quid ok its taking a chance but i'm just getting fed up of sending the bloody things back to microsoft only for the box to go wrong after 6mnts whats annoying my Xbox is not in an enclosed area plenty of air getting round it i'll spend no more than 8 hrs a week playing......fed up just ain't the word!!

Courier them to me if you like, since youre a PH'er ill do it for cost price + postage back, which shouldnt be too much. Hell I recon i could have tme done and back to you within a week if the post isnt too slow.

Ive just checked, and ive got enough parts to do at least 2 xbox's.

My launch day Box died last week, took it apart to clean it out as it was noisy, but it was clean inside, put the covers back on, powered it up, it prompted to download the latest update, rebooted and now have 3 flashing red lights.

What are the chances of the above kit fixing it ?

The reason they die is because the heat sink doesnt sit properly against the chips, they start to overheat, and the power is cut to protect them. The kit reattaches the heatsink much more securely, which stops the overheating and cures the RROD.

It lasts for varying ammounts of time, some appear to be permanently fixed, whilst others 6-12 months, all depends on the state of the xbox.

I will look into that this week if you really don't mind. Just need to get a hold of a box to send it. Parcelforce should be alright for sending it from my office...
