Hi Everyone, I finally made it over here just in time for the Big Freeze! I can't wait to get a car and get involved in the Edineats and Edinlush days!

First things I have to do is get a UK drivers licence. How do I do that here? I currently have a Australian Licence. Where do I go and what do I need to take?

Also my wife is keen to put me to work and she says I need a NHS number to get a job. How do I get that?

Hear from you soon!

It's NI number - National Insurance smile

Did you not have an immigration person to help you along?

Oh sorry. My bad. A national insurance number is the one. How do I get that?

I don't have an agent either. My wife is Scottish so I got a settlement visa easily but no advice about what to do once here.

Thank god for Piston Heads! smile

Have a look here http://customerhelpline.info/NationalInsurance/lis...

They have a helpline number which should sort you out.
What is it you do workwise?

Thanks for that link mate.

In Australia I was in construction for 13 years and then worked for BMW for just over 3 years.

Not sure what I'm going to do here just yet.

Ford all the way! (even though I do have a secret soft spot for the odd Holden!)

I would love too if I get a car by then. Decisions decisions! Things are a lot different to aus over here with cars so I have a tricky (but fun) time ahead. Hot hatch? Jap or German sports car? US muscle (if I can afford the fuel). I'm narrowing it down...Do I spend 10,15 or 20k? Arrgh!

I wanted the super pursuit ute before I left. The fuel bill would be horrendous here. 23l per 100k's frown

your doing somthing wrong. My xr6 turbo has only had a 9psi tune and its still returning between 10.3 and 11l/100km highest it goes is 15 driving around town and work.
Should have done it. I would have bought it no probs.

That's amazing if you're getting that. My old Corolla was rated at 9l/100. The super pursuit is very thirsty though. A mate had one and drove it pretty hard. It did like a drink.

Do you have an XR6 in the UK?
