Health insurance after cancer

I was unfortunate to be diagnosed with Stage 4B cancer at the age of 29, 3 years ago and fortunate enough to survive the disease and treatment to be here today.

My query relates to the health insurance available to cancer survivors.

My IFA seems to indicate there is next to none available and a trawl of Google seems to show that he may be right.

Are there any knowledgable folk over here who know of decent coverage for cancer survivors?

I am confident of never getting the big C again, but other stuff will happen and I want to be protected.

I would suggest a report written by a consultant oncologist to the effect that you are clear of the disease and that recurrence is statistically no more likely than it is in the general population ought to do the job. It will cost you, of course.

Suspect you may struggle getting any onc to be as 'optimistic' as you where a 4B is concerned!!

Swerni - can I ask where you got life insurance - I'm struggling to get annual travel insurance so had just written off the idea of life cover!!

Re travel insurance. I was diagnosed a few years ago with advanced ovarian cancer with a very poor prognosis. As a result of high levels of Chemo I now have two rare incurable diseases. No one will insure me for my notified diseases and for the cancer. However I get annual travel insurance for any other health problems that might arise whilst travelling, lost luggage, delayed flights etc. I use Fortis Insurance Ltd, Fortis House, Tollgate, Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO53 3YA. My OH sorted this for me through our local cancer care/info department at our local hospital.

Mmm, I've got life insurance thru work, but looks like I'm being made redundant so no work insurance anymore...

What I am looking for really is health care that takes care of the sports injuries and physio I need given the sports I play.

If you could PM me the details of what cover you have or if you;re happy to post it up, I'd be most grateful. An idea of what you think a good quote would be would be most helpful too.

Does it work like insurance, it that if you make a claim they screw your premium over for you in return?
