panasonic tx-p42g20
Discussion
Ok, so i've just been into Richer Sounds and they're getting in another 500 of the Panasonic tx-p42g20 for £599.9999999999999, so that's good
So, assuming i order one of these what do i put with it?
I'm currently looking at these;
Yamaha YAS 71 - £299 or
Yamaha YHTS 400 - £399 and
Sony PS3
What do you think, any other recommendations??

I'm in the same position having just ordered on from John Lewis (price matching Richer Sounds price with the warranty + delivery) - seems a good tv for the price and will watch this thread with interest
I'm leaning towards the PS3 as a useful bluray player and can also play games against friends who have one. Audio will be piped through my existing separates hifi, onkyo were doing some good amp's last time I read about them.

I was looking at just getting the wi-fi dongle and a separate blu-ray player (i'm not really a gamer), but when you add it up i may as well get a PS3

brilliant tv but make sure you buy a hard drive for it if you dont have sky+ so you can record and pause the tv.
If i get a PS3 which comes with a hard drive, will that do??http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=25731...

Thanks for the inadvertent heads up Lambysdad, I have been waiting for a call from John Lewis for a stock delivery with no news, had one on reserve so since their price is now up (699.00) from £629.00 when I reserved it, would have been interesting.
Anyway, called Richer Sounds at 15.30 yesterday. Reserved and picked up within an hour. Set up today and hugely pleased

Just phone up Panasonic and shout at them, they will supply part FOC you will only need to pay for labour. I guess yours is a G10? the G20's havent been out long enough to be 6 months outside of warantee.
I think Richer Sounds are shouting at Panasonic on my behalf. And my mistake, mine is a G15, not G20.Edited by headcase on Sunday 5th December 20:03
Always meant to take out a 3rd party 5 year warranty (to save £20!!!!) but never got around to it.

I can strongly recommend getting an extended warranty with this TV as mine went pop 6 weeks outside the 12 month warranty.
I'm still waiting to see what Richer Sounds are going to do about it.
All these items have a 2 year warranty under EU legislation:I'm still waiting to see what Richer Sounds are going to do about it.

Im pretty sure the EU law carries little to no weight in the UK we have our own Sale of goods act.
Rubbish, the UK is part of the EU and the same regulations apply. It's only the distributors/suppliers that try and hoodwink their customers that's the problem. Many in the UK are unaware of this EU regulation and taken advantage of by those who fully know the regulations. What is so difficult to understand about an EU regulation that states:
"The fact is that a two-year guarantee applies for the sale of all consumer goods everywhere in the EU (Directive 1999/44/EC)."
UK suppliers who don't expicitly explain this to their customers are best avoided. These are the same suppliers that are constantly recommending one brand of certain electronic items such as TVs. Does that ring a bell here?
I know that many suppliers in the UK are too thick to understand EU legislation but they shouldn't assume that their customers are as thick as they are:
From Directive 1999/44/EC:
"Article
Time limits
1. The seller shall be held liable under Article 3 where the
lack of conformity becomes apparent within two years as from
delivery of the goods. If, under national legislation, the rights
laid down in Article 3(2) are subject to a limitation period, that
period shall not expire within a period of two years from the
time of delivery."
