Could be worse, all the petrol stations round here seem to be empty. Sainsburys only have diesel, Asda ran out completely, Tesco/Esso didn't have any either. Only hope is the big tesco at Bridge of Don, but I may not have the fuel to get there!
shell at bridge of don, top of kings st only ran out of diesel if it's of use to you? Gwagon111 said:
I just filled up with Vpower from a local Shell station. The price has shot up by 7 pence a litre since last week. Profiteering s

Oil price has gone up, and consumption has dropped.

I go through about 100l of unleaded a week at the moment, but htis week I used 40l due to snow. They (Shell etc.) still have all the same fixed operating costs to sell you fuel when it comes to petrol stations. So if the are not doing the volume, then then they have to up the margin to make up for it.
I was thinking this as well, and with vat up 2.5% thats another 4-5p on top of todays prices. When will the goverment learn that incresing fuel duty puts us out of pocket more!
The way i see it is the petrol price is split into four segments.
- Oil price
- Fuel duty
- VAT
- Retailers charge ( forecourt)
This is my guess as the costs.
Oil price - $90 = 48p a litre (guess)
Fuel duty - 52p + oil price of 48p = £1 a litre
VAT - 17.5% ( of £1 a litre ) = £1.17
Retailers - anything from 3p to 10p a litre = £1.19 to £1.30
The oil price is changing all the time, Fuel duty is going up, VAT is going up, and the retailers can charge what they like to be competitive. Which is why it's handy if you live near a ASDA or Morrisons forecourt as they have the lowest forecourt charges.

All I wanted to do was have a MaccyDee's before i went home!!! Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
