Mad Friday used to be about drinking beer and watching top cars doing burn-outs whilst taking the mickey out of the local Gendarmes. Many of us used to think that Mad Friday was the highlight of the weekend.

It still goes on to a lesser extent, but sadly most of the best and particularly open-top cars now stay parked in the campsites because some people with water pistols think it's jolly good fun to soak the interior of someone's pride and joy.

What used to be an awesome day has been ruined over the past few years.

Let's get Mad Friday back to the way it was!

If you agree and want the water pistols to be left at home, join the petition and add your name to this list.

Well, it's pointless now that's it's been shot down.

That's a win for the water pistols then.

Doctor Houx,

I dislike the actions of the few as much as anyone else here.

The OTT behaviour of some has always been looked upon badly by this forum, but, being realistic what is this going to actually achieve?

The only way is for the mass of people who don't like it at the event to 'take action', but no one does and generally all stand around and laugh along with it.

The question is... how do you effectively stop this behaviour now?

Bit harsh.

As I have posted on another thread they have a use in wetting tyres and the odd passing naked bloke on a scooter but should be kept well away from cars.

Sadly it's gone beyond even the supersoakers now though and on to pints being poured in which is way beyond acceptable.

There are a few people who don't 'get' this place about but it's the vocal minority still, rather than the hoards.

As another poster has said though even if all brits were 100% well behaved there are 1,000's of idiots around Europe who sadly see LM as an excuse to show the World what a PITA they are. Last year our LM was all but ruinined by a group of 4 Dutch chaps.

Bit Harsh, you're probably right.

I just remember Mad Friday before the internet and forums like this one and they were great fun but there was utter respect for (almost) all cars. I remember people using nice cars for the 100 yard dash, or burn outs or donuts such as the 260+hp Green Caterham, the White Lambo Countach a certain Type 47 Europa and countless Cobras, 911s all willing to show off a little. Arnage and Mulsanne were great places for petrol heads to congregate and admire the metal around.

Then came the Vauxhall Vectras doing burnouts, the idiots doing donuts in Houx Annexe on gravel in front of everyone P&Js shattering glass and peppering paintwork. Just seems that as the OP said, Mad Friday WAS great fun, just seems now to be a ride into the unknown frown

This year they stopped anything happening on the Mulsanne straight and it all happened inside the course
