No Service History for my Merc

Hi Members, i recently bought a C Class Merc from a lady owner. She hadn't driven it for over a year (as shown from the miles since last MOT).It looks and drives great though has no service history. Any ideas where I can get some history. Please help..

There is a chap on that thread who can obtain MB service history. Do you have a stamped book? Are they MB dealers?

I once bought a BMW 328ci where the stamped book had been lost but was able to obtain a new one with stamps in as I had some receipts and did a bit of phone work and I think it cost £10-£15 so even that can be remedied.

No I don't have any stamped book...though visually, I can see that it has been recently serviced (new oil). I just don't know where to start.

Any dealer should be able to look it up for you, especially if you suggest you'll be taking it there for service work.

If she's owned it from new, is there an obvious local dealer that she would have used?

Actually I think that could be a worthy starting point, (the place where it was last serviced). I'll try that out but do you think they'll be able to produce a FULL service history including work done by other garages?

I tried to get the service history for my present car, from the dealer stamped about 15 times in the book. They came up with some excuse about "we changed our computer systems and can't get that for you". I didn't believe a word of it.

It's supposed to be centrally held by MB, but the records do seem to be patchy.

Try PMing the VIN & reg number to MURRAY007 and ask him nicely to have a look for you. I think the records (if there) only contain basic info anyway, ie "service" and not the details of what was done.

The OP might find this page http://lite.servicemercedes.co.uk/pc/pc_start.asp useful in the future - these cars don't need a lot of servicing.

MB Grangemouth have done lots & lots to this vehicle, but they only show 3 service records,

I would contact this company as they really have done lots to the vehicle.
all recalls are upto date which is good as your model has the SBC version.
Take this as you will but the car had a total of 30 warranty repairs (including recalls) in 28,000mls in a 4 year period.
