Is Porsche Readying A New Supercar for Detroit?
Porsche promises big things for its return to US show after four years away
Porsche is expected to show off a new supercar at the Detroit motor show in January, marking a return to the US show after a four-year absence.
"We'll have something spectacular to show there," Porsche spokesman Hans-Gerd Bode told financial website Bloomberg on Friday, though Porsche is remaining tight-lipped as to the exact nature of what it will reveal. "You'll have to wait and be surprised," said Bode.
It's widely expected that the mystery Detroit star will borrow significantly from the universally praised 918 Spyder unveiled at the Geneva show earlier this year.
The smart internet money, however, is currently speculating that, unlike the hybrid 918 Spyder (which is getting its own limited production run), the Detroit show car will be a more conventionally powered car.
A 'sister' model to the 918 would make sense, as it would allow Porsche to capitalise on the warm reception and high demand it has experienced for the 918 Spyder. We'll just have to wait until January to find out for sure...

What are the alloys made of they look lilke plastic?

And it was "too fast" with a top speed of 30mph, as it was believed that "it would send the horses crazy".

"How many Mondeo variants do you need?....or 3 series, A4, Megane etc etc..."
Its a car produced in varying states of tune and spec... its the fact that the media focus and celebrate each an every fine tweak as something amazing to behold...
I've not seen What Car? put the 1.8LX 2.0Ghia, 1.9Tdi Estate, 1.8 5door, 2.5 4 door on the front cover month after month in the same way...
Thats said Porsche clearly get more bang from their marketing buck by drip releasing each variant. No harm in that...

But then again choice is good but surely a lot of this stuff could just be options and not an entirely new model.
