Morning.

If one were to acquire a car stereo head unit with an aux in socket (as per my thread), is it possible to plug a personal DAB radio (like this) into the aux socket like you would an MP3 player, thereby enjoying DAB in the car in a cheap and convenient manner?

Or is this madness?

So long as the portable DAB radio can hold reception in a moving vehicle.

Does the DAB radio not require a better ariel, than a car has?

I'm on about those personal ones that you stick in your pocket and walk down the street with. No ariels there!

The headphone cable is the ariel so really depends how well the aux cable manages as the ariel.

I've done this. Philips personal DAB into a Fiesta. It did work pretty well but the reception was a bit hit and miss. A couple of factors could have contributed though, ford's quickclear screen and the fact I am oop north!
Can try it quickly by using the audio cable from a PC, so have a go. Try to orientate the cable vertically as that is the polorisation for DAB.
Good luck.
