That’s it I’m selling the car & giving up driving!
Discussion
No not coz of the car…but coz I’ve now be done for speeding twice in 2 weeks, so that’s £120 fines & more importantly 6 more points that takes me up to 10!
The first of these two was in Barnet heading down Totteridge Lane, minding my own business with a fiesta in front of me when our friendly boy in blue jumps out in front of the fiesta but points past him and pulls me in!!! Now in my defence I was a little lost due to coming off the M25 early due to an accident and I was looking for signs to get me home and I really was driving rather slower than normal, but that wasn’t slow enough “46 sir was your speed in a 30 zone & just last week we had a car up in that tree with someone under it”….well they must have been do more than bloody 46!!
Anyway after I’ve thought about it rationally I think fair do’s….However Easter Sunday down the A412 in Hemel around 6.00pm with all of 3 cars on the road I get pulled again. “evening sir we are conducting a safety campaign” on bloody Easter Sunday!?! “your speed was far to fast for this road” hold on this used to be the main A41 road??? “all it would take sir is for some old dodder to pull out of that petrol station in front of you & you wouldn’t be able to stop” If someone pulled out in front of me in 30 I still wouldn’t be able to stop & shouldn’t you they be concentrating on those kind of drivers instead??
Am I a bad driver, am I driving too fast, is it coz I drive a TVR or is it an easier catch to focus in on sports car and get speeding fines for the coffers rather than deal with the real issues….shit driving and all those people driving without insurance, MOT etc?
Now I might be as guilty as anyone with the speed limits and a little biased coz I’m the one who’s got done here…BUT F**k me
you see these people street racing & nicking cars and drivers that shouldn’t have been given a television licence let alone a driving one and do they get punished??
Sorry if I’ve bored you with my rantings but I needed to get that off my chest & now I need to invest some MORE money & time in looking for the right radar detector.

Twice in a few days is not funny.
g amazing! Two traffic cops? You're having a laugh! Seriously, you have been very unlucky (I've not seen a single BiB-car in the Barnet area that hasn't had the blues and twos going).
What bit of the 412 was it on? Most of it is stupidly low limit dual carriageway or single track with absolutely no habitation near-by.
you have my sympathy too... a few years back I got done 3 times in 2 months in my Impreza & ended up with a 56 day ban and whilst waiting for the court date the scooby was stolen! - I gave up for 2 years and bought an MPV!! nowadays I just pay massive insurance on the Tive because of the points & theft back then... ho hum... I really must get that road angel...
oh dear.....get yourself a road angel...i do agree with the train of thought of "shouldn't they be out catching 'real criminals'" though....i saw an interesting stat last week on the news....apparently after all the "speed kills" campaign, it turns out that speeding is only the 7th placed killer in road accidents...bad driving is the number 1....
so it pi$$es me off when 'good' drivers going a little over the limit get pulled and the myopic old cretin in his Volvo dodders round not even realising that any other person is on the road as well.....

Get yourself to the USA, Mawheel, and liberty, to Arizona, or Montana if you want a UK-South climate, buy a Viper or Corvette or a Mustand, and drive yourself to sports car heaven across endles miles of great roads that skip across valleys and deserts until they rise up to the sky.
........at 55mph...?????
Eeerrmmm no thanks all the same

I think you will find the speed limit in Montana is defined as "reasonable and safe" ie, no speed limit.

Err, no thanks. Last time I drove to the Grand Canyon I got done in the middle of nowhere for doing 90mph. There was a cop car hidden behind a bush every 10 mile. Nothing for 100 miles in each direction, and the guy virtually admitted it was revenue ploy, "because all the tourists use this route" - and for every 1mph over the limit you go the fine goes up!
Thanks for your comments...& the invite to the USA..
Now the mind blowing thing is which detector to get?? I've done a bit of researching of the archives and it seems RA is the one that comes up trumps although there are a couple voting for the snooper. Knowing how my luck is going at the moment I'll get a faulty one whatever one I go for & get done again?!?
Maybe I'll leave the Tivvy at home................ah b*ll*cks you only live once!
Starmist it is a sobering thought and one that doesn’t make me feel any better…sorry to hear it & I hope it doesn’t go as bad as you think.

Me too. Many of these small desert towns (Kingman, AZ., in my case) have no local taxes, and derive all their income from speeding fines.
Oh, and Montana re-introduced speed limits a while ago (fatalities went up) and has several feet of snow in the winter.

Zumbruck, and all the others shy of driving in the USA - does your view mean you're sticking to bumper-to-bumper drives on UK's over-crowded roads, salt laden and road rage riddled. Come on, guys! Were on earth do you drive your Tuscans and cerberas to their full potential?
Your profile says you're Scottish, yet you ask a question like that? Only round cities are roads bumper to bumper. I take it you never left the Central belt?

I think you'll find that Montana has reinstated speed limits thinks to the w@nkers who just can't sleep at night without a nanny state.
It seems there was a court challenge around the fact that "reasonable and prudent" was unconstitutionally vague.
Ah….sort of forgot about those!!
Is there any point to having a sports car these days? It seems everyone is bent on stamping out any sort of enjoyment these days and before I have any comments from the Sunday Drivers brigade to quote from Nick P
I rest my case your honour
!!
Jessica, hope your friend didn’t get dealt with too harshly?

Hi, Jim's Chim. Griffith has done only 2000 miles so far, spoiled rotten, mollycoddled even. As for great drives, I keep quiet about Scottish roads coz I don't want it over-crowded by drivers from the SOUTH!!!
Don't worry about us cos we ARE rebuilding Hadrians Wall to keep all you haggis eating celts from venturing SOUTH. I bet you wear a skirt as well
