Turbo upgrade : howto / costs / gain

Hi,

just got my GTO 2.5, but I'm playing with the idea of upgrading the turbos ; what does it need to upgrade it ? Just the turbos itself or will it need ECU remapping, other wastegate actuator, ... ?

Does it make sense to upgrade to ie GT25 or GT28 (without more lag) ?

Seen a link somewhere to a shop selling (I think) GT550 turbos for Noble ; it was w UK webshop with Ford parts I think, but turbos where for Noble M12

I know the T25's can give you up to 420bhp and from what I understand its more than your 2.5L engine will be able to produce without major mods so upgrading the turbo isnt really worth it especially as you will get a little more lag with the T28's.

do you have the standard exhaust? if so then get an exhaust a decent intercooler and have it remaped cheaper than doing the turbos (as you have to get car remapped if you change turbos) and prob same power.

Still have the standerd exhaust but Will have it replaced by à stainless steel one with sports cats & wider tubing.

Still need to look of it has the upgraded ECU, where can I find it exactly ? What do I have to remove to access it ?

So no real gain in just replacing the turbo's,so will not do, won't change engine infernale neither.

Lift the rear clam,in the drivers side wheel arch remove the black pannel that gives you access to the cill area. The ecu is in there. If its been upgraded it would say omex or mbe on the ecu.

thanx, located the chassis number on the drivers side yesterday (will need for MOT) & started to remove the black panel. 3 screws came of easily (top ones), others are really tight or the "cross pattern" of the screw got damaged ; will take the rear wheel of for easier access to the remaining screws & will remove difficult screws with set of fine pliers ; then have a look on the ECU & put it all back together, using stainless screws.

Ordered a set of European lights (again, for MOT), will have them today, will just need adjusting for the right beam.

Removed the black panel, and it's a MBE ECU ! Written clearly on top, written as well "Bosch Mapped".

Is the Bosch mapped a good mapping ? What are the specs ?

It might mean its been mapped with the Bosch fuel pump and harness upgrade which is a good mod IMO
