E46 Fuel Filler Cap Iced Up?

Hi everyone, just attempted to fill up but I was thwarted as my filler cap wouldn't open. I'm guessing it's ice? Does anyone know how I would open it?! It's a pre-LCI saloon. Cheers!

if it's ice, and not locked, try pouring warm water over it, that should free it up. once open, use a cloth to dry it asap. then squirt some wd40 or similar to the lock mechanism and hinges. don't use de-icer, won't do much good to your paint work IMO. wipe any excess of WD40 off pretty quickly too though.

thanks, but i'm most likely going to be selling it in the not too distant future. tough decision as i know i'll never find another E21 in this condition with no structural rust ever again!
