We have two short pieces of cold water copper pipe in the bathroom that can be seen, Mrs 645 wants to paint them white, what is the best paint to use?

Normal paint will work fine.

As above, but needs to be oil based paint.

Just to add, if they do turn out to be a hot pipe. Let the paint dry before letting the pipe become hot or the paint will dry funny.

Hammerite or you could even get pipe covers.

I use hammerite, you get a much nicer longer lasting finish to it

Snap-over covers

Yes that. Takes 30 seconds to do ignoring going to B&Q. As the covers are about £10 for a large pack also tidy up your radiator pipes.

Don't bother painting

Or buy a metre length of white 10mm/15mm, whatever the pipe size you're wanting to cover, plastic pipe. Cut the desired length, cut a slit up the length of it and snap that over. Far cheaper than the pipe covers!!

I was always told you need to use "zinsser bin primer" on copper pipes, otherwise your paint tends to turn green.
