Looks ok, these renderings always look a bit silly though.

Also very dissapointed about the forced induction. Im sure there where better ways to gain efficiency, Its always something of a joke to me that no matter how carefully I drove my M3 i never saw more than 21.5mpg in comparison a friends c63 with 100 more bhp and 50% greater displacement could quite happily do 27mpg on a good motorway run.

Made up in their tea break. The next M3 won't be available to buy here until 2014. The next M5 hasn't even been announced yet and it is always two years ahead of the M3.

"It will also be a real head-turner. "

Aaaaaaaarggh. Sounds like a classified ad for a tarted-up Corsa.

Although I do think that jolly bad-boy bonnet is rather wicked you all.

god you're a miserable lot! am I the only one who thinks it looks fantastic? looks much more aggressive than the last one. and if I remember rightly everyone moaned like a bh about them using a v8 last time, they go back to the 6 with a turbo and ur moaning still. face facts company's can't get away from the tree huggers nowadays, I'm sure it will be a fantastic car that I will never be able to afford but its lighter, quicker and ment to be more economical. sorted!

I'll explain it again for you.

There will be no new M3 in 2012.

That is not the next M3. It is a photoshop mash-up of the current model and the F10 5 Series with a fantasy front-end and M3 GTS wheels. The text is a re-hash of the tiny amount of information that is public about the car; that it will use a turbocharged six cylinder engine.

Don't BMW have a 7 year model cycle. So 2014 for the next. I guess we could see a CS type based on the V8, with bits off the GTS in 2012, but no a new F model.

The new M5 will first be available on the UK market in 2012 (or possibly late 2011 if it debuts at an early show in 2011). The M3 will be two years later. That's the way it always goes. The next 3 Series hasn't even been spotted yet and the M car always follows a couple of years later.

I wouldn't bet against it being unveiled in late 2012... as the next generation 1M with 4cyl turbo engine has been hinted at by BMW inside info as coming out in 2014-2015, and this will be after the next M3 which will happen after production of the new 1M finishes in 2012.... as a 450hp test version of the 1M N54TT engine has already been developed by BMW for it during the course of the 1M development....although it might become a N55TT by the time it goes on sale, rather than the N54TT...????

I am looking to buy a M3 within the next 6 months so I dont want to buy an old model and also I dont want to lose st loads in depreciation. I will be looking for a £35k model and want to hold it for 3 years. I do want £17k after 3 years of ownership!

Looks like I might as well spend £5k, put some low comp pistons and a turbo on the E36 and bob's your uncle...

ETA: Purists aside, I expect this also opens the door to 700bhp M3 conversions for relatively little additional outlay, which can't be a bad thing...

Just out of interest where did you here the 2012 dates from? Because if its true my dealer is taking the piss telling me those dates!!!

Your dealer is at best mistaken. They haven't even shown the Concept yet.

ETA: the E60 M5 Concept was shown in February 2004 and the first UK deliveries were in summer 2005 on an 05 plate. They were quicker from first showing to first deliveries with the E92 M3, but you won't have an F10 M5 key in your hand by the summer of next year.

I spoke to my dealer from whom I'm buying the X5 and he doesn't expect deliveries before late 2011 at the very earliest.

I actually like that render image! looks kinda 'stubby' ! but the detail in the design does indeed look quite nice and balanced overall. Yes, it's got elements of design that you'd normally expect to find in the high end BMW tuner's cars but if the released car does indeed look like this to a greater extent, I like it !

The original M3 was circa 200 bhp in 1987.. 25 years later, albeit with a 'relative little' fettling, 700 bhp may well be possible! 500bhp increase! Wonder what the 2026 M3 will be like?! 700 bhp standard and 950 or so with some fettling?!

Some tuners are already quite close to that today..

Not a BMW unfortunatley.. recently seen at the 2010 SEMA show;

Cheers, Dennis!
