£10k Budget, Which Impreza?
Discussion
well a quick look and this looks quite good : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2006-Subaru-Impreza-2-5-WRX-...
There are a few uk stis on that search at a grand more, also a P1 but looks like a private sale and P1's can be troublesome
As far as EVO's go i'm not so sure, there's a couple of tommi maks around that price but with high miles, most things look modded which can be ok but is more of a risk and some of the ones on ebay are from the various bradford dealers which i wouldn't touch

I saw that one through a search on the Subaru website.
Looks good - I'm not up on my Type UK, Type D, WRX and STI names yet. More research needed I think

But in short
WRX = base turbo model
STI = faster turbo model
Type UK = an STI that has offically been adapted to the UK market
Type D = An STI without the huge spolier and gold wheels.
You could probably get a reasonable mileage MY04 STi for that (it would probably need to be a private sale). Or get a newer 2.5 Hawkeye WRX (possibly with the Prodrive Performance Pack). It really depends what you are going to use the car for. IMO an STi is not a sensible daily driver, at least for higher mileage use.

As the title suggests, I'm thinking of scratching that Impreza itch but given the multitude of models could use some help on a starting point.
Or should I get an Evo instead?
£3.5-5.5k on a classic WRX STI Type R would be my pick, pref a V or VI but a III, IV or V would be worth considering too. Or should I get an Evo instead?

Not sure an Impreza necessarily looks better than an Evo... Neither are the pinnacle of beauty
Really, the OP needs to say what they plan on using the car for etc to really provide any constructive feedback... An eight thousand BHP modified classic will be a hoot on a track, but not the best thing to get to work in...

Are the Hawkeye WRX's really still worth that much? I thought they would be around the £5k mark now. If they are I'll be pleasently suprised but I still won't be selling mine, I love it!Bungleaio said:
