What BMX? (sentimental retro use for a grown up boy)

Hi,

as a Christmas present to myself I'm after a BMX. After years of asking all my relatives - who persist in thinking I'm joking - I'm going to treat myself. It will only be used for rides down memory lane (to the pub to collect the car from the night before) so Olympic capabilities aren't required - just to look and feel good.

Budget is around £300, although we all know that will happily creep past £400 if I get excited.

Any thoughts? We the People? Any brands to avoid?

Ha ha funny i am thinking along the same lines after a friend put me onto this site http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php after a few too many and im getting sucked in...oh for those mid eighties bmx days life was so so simple back then. Haro freestyler, Skyway TA if you have the money then you can have what your parents couldnt afford to buy you for chrimbo back in the day. Keep us posted.

You could pick up a re-issue "25th anniversary Raleigh Burner", they aren't great bikes but perfect for the 80's retro look and for cruising down to the pub & back, they were released a couple of years back, and come up on Burnerworld.co.uk & raleighburner.com now and again for much less than £300.

If you're after the Retro look but with new-skool build and strength, and even a bit more 'rideable' to the 'born again' BMXer have a long look at 24" bikes, cruisers!

This one was for sale over on BMXTalk and even has 'Mags'....

SE Racing is a classic old skool brand that are still making bikes and although there are differences to the 80's classics they still have the same look, the Floval Flyer is the 24" version of the classic PK Ripper.
