I can't believe I need to start looking for a car for the Mrs and then one for me. The hardest thing is that I am in Edinburgh and the snow makes it near impossible! All the cars in the yards are covered, the roads are terrible and we are only just getting around. How could you do a good test drive in this?

We just drove back from in the city to our place and the traffic was doing less than 20 as the ice was getting pretty bad.

I wonder how long this weather will last?

Are you desperate for a car right now? I would hold off as your never going to get the test drive you want in this. Unless you a buy 4x4.

So, you have a designated driver, it's Christmas, you're in Scotland - what are you complaining about? - sounds like your first port of call should be the pub!

Sound good in theory BUT you try sitting there saying nothing while your mrs spins all over the road and almost gets you bogged in the snow. Almost impossible!

good test of battery etc, the dealers will be desperate to sell, test drive on ice/snow and on wet roads (goto a main road)

Perfect time to buy (as long as your not after a 4x4!)

Plus the insurance won't have reacted yet to all the claims!!! biggrin

get them to defrost it properly and check the paint, ice and snow will hide scratches and dents!!!

its a horrible time of year to be buying a new car, not much chance to keep it all nice and clean and pristine, or enjo driving it.

I am in the same position to, I am without car and have planned on doing it two weekends ago, luckily am fudging cars off people so far but I had to catch a bus this week. A BUS! The only positive I can see to buying a car in this weather is that people are probably going to be easier to haggle as they aren't selling anything. But then what I want is rwd so I might get nowhere fast hehe
