Would appreciate any advice, we're planning on going to FOS for the first time next year, is 1 day enough or should we really go for 2 and are any days especially better than others?

Many thanks.

It's generally a case that:
Friday is the least crowded so access to the cars is pretty good - but it's a practise day so not all the cars run, there aren't celeb drivers and the other displays are toned down.
Saturday is more crowded, has more celeb drivers, all the cars run and there are loads more displays.
Sunday is the biggie. Proper crowded but with all the cars, drivers, displays etc you could want - but you probably won't be able to see them!

The wildcard is the Thursday for the Moving Motorshow. It allows you access to the whole site effectively - although the cars aren't running, you'll be pretty sure of not having to fight off a crowd if you want a loads of good photos etc.

Personally I think that you will have a great time of you go on one day. I also think you'll have a better time if you go on two or more days!!! This year I went with my brother on the Friday and Sunday, we basically carved the event into two and saw half the cars running one day, and half static, the flipped it for the following day.

In a nutshell - go for two days.

Do all four if you have time, there is more than enough to spread over the time and the cost will be little more. The local paper does a free friday ticket if you buy a Saturday or Sunday ticket so a weeknd is just about £100 or so and this year they gave away some of the tickets for the thursday too. Enjoy

Thanks for your help, I have accomodation booked in Findon for Friday and Saturday so have a few options of which days to do. On looking at the map it would seem the most direct route would be the A27 but I'm guessing that might be rather busy!! Any better routes to take?

I don't suppose the local paper releases their offer until much nearer the time, I was going to buy tickets as part of OH's Christmas present but if I can get a free one then he can wait!!! smile Is there any chance of Goodwood selling out?

The Sunday Times also usually offers free tickets for the Friday but I think now it will be to those who have subscribed to the website - I found Thursday almost as good this year even though the cars weren't running as they were almost all already arrived

They usually stop selling tickets about 2-3 weeks before having sold out - if you have to choose a day go Friday as there are fewer people and the spectacle is barely less complete - then you could have a nice day or two at the seaside too !

I did all four days this year and plan to do the same next year.

Going to look out for the paper deals this year though.

Popular mis-conception, tickets could be bought this year for both events ( and i've done so myself in the past) at Goodwood box office on Friday for the Sat and Sun. The 'sold-out' signs seen on the approach roads are just to discourage those without tickets from turning up. Even that isn't a problem if you've ordered and paid by phone up to 24 hrs before you can collect on the gate.
