Should make for some interesting 'discussions' between schools and parents!
Sadly our 4 year old is off sick today, the day of his nativity play

Good to see the BBC on the cutting edge of news! Daily Mail reported this story on Monday, along with the response from the whichever official body gives advice.Should make for some interesting 'discussions' between schools and parents!

But it's all ridiculous though. Comes back to a discussion I was having a few days ago with my father, that after 13 years of Labour we are programmed to think that there is danger everywhere, like a paedo lurking behind every corner, CRB checks for an adult who takes other people's children (including his own) to football practice, etc.

Perhaps they should apply the same common sense to school sporting events too.
( I was told I was not allowed to take a photo of my son at a school sports!)
Well it is in effect the same thing, a photo taken for a family photo album so I'd say the IC has already Ok'd it......( I was told I was not allowed to take a photo of my son at a school sports!)

It's never been a problem at my daughters school taking pictures
at any event.
Guess we never realised how lucky we were.
Same here - my kids school has a policy to specifically ALLOW parents to take video footage, photos or anything else necessary. The only thing they ask is that they keep flash to a minimum and keep disruption to a minimum. Other than that, take pictures all you like. at any event.
Guess we never realised how lucky we were.
All this 'banning' crap with privacy and stuff is utter rubbish. Its trumped up muppets who have misunderstood or misread the relevant guidance or recommendations to fit their own personal agenda / political stance. In reality, no government guide or local authority policy said that banning photos at the nativity play was produced. It was passed to the local school to make their own decisions based on the parent / teacher governor groups
What is more the case is that the governors made these policies and these are the muppets that need to be publicly humiliated!

a friend of mine is a press photographer and has 2-3 nativities per day to cover this week. hasn't been CRB checked either. just hope she leaves the pedo bear outfit at home, its a touch obvious.at any event.

They SHOULD be banned - not because paedos get the hots for 2000 year old, dwarf, biblical shepards with fake beards - but because in 10 years time you have snap shots in a poorly lit school hall of your kid, out of focus behind a bunch of other kids you dont know.
Sports day photos....cool
School play photos....pointless!

I went to my 4 year olds play yesterday and took anumber of photo's. They're not brillian, but they are a reminder of her childhood.
As I see it, the problem isn't made any better by people who think they know what they are talking about. Last year we went to a Birthday party at an indoor fun play centre that has a big plane in it (near Worthing and has been featured as a business study on TV in the past). I was told not to use my camera to take any photo's of mine or any other children and I would be thrown out if I did.
The reason - because apparently there is software available that can remove the clothes and reveal a naked body underneath and the owner made it a blanket rule for that reason....
WTF is she talking about? If it was available and I knew about that software, do you think I'd be taking pictures of children?......I'd be hanging around celeb haunts making a bloody fortune.
Idiot.

I am a chair of governors, County sets these policies and we have to follow their lead. We have a nativity performance tonight and we are allowing photography after the performance as it will be distracting during the show for the kids. Talk about bad timing though!
That's the same here but it's the Head teacher's decision. The Headmistress of our village school has always allowed photographs but only before or after when the children can pose and the parents can show off their expensive cameras to each other. Still doesn't stop a few pushy parents from ignoring this and flashing away in the middle of their precious' little speech!

Lost for words at the stupidity of that man. There are certain circumstances where you can saturate/desaturate an image enough to maybe see nipple if the woman is braless and wearing a white shirt..
It's insane to think there's software that can fully remove a kids clothes. Why are people such retards and how do such retards end up owning a business.

k your kids!" should be the automated response given whenever a school is written to about anything pedo related.
