Hi All
does anyone know what the bottom end of the AJ28 is off?
is the gearbox bell housing a standard fitment?
its the bottom end ford?

I need a bell housing to join an AJ28 to a Toyota W58 gearbox thats being uprated...

Any help appreciated! Stuggling to find much info on the block...
All i know is that it was originally a cosworth lump that jag used in the S-Type and XK/XJ...
Mine is a MY2000 4.0l...

Cheers
Oz.

There was a post here a little while back from a guy in the US who was lumping the engine from his XJ8 and using a cheap conversion to a US V8 and manual box. You might find this easier than trying to hack all the Jag electronics to work without the autobox ECU.

See "x308 xj8/r differences" from Oct 17th

Cool thanks.
not bothering to hack the electronics using an emerald ECU to run the engine...
Excel already has stand alone cooling systems and using the power steering pump from an MR2 (electronic pump for hydraulic system), so just need the ECU to manage the basic engine functions...

Shouldnt be a problem as Emerald say they have done this engine before...

Just the gearbox bell housing that i need from the Toyota W58 to the Jag V8 which i think uses a Ford bottom end, in which case someone should have one available as an off the shelf part somewhere, which is what im trying to establish rather than having to get a custom one made up at what im sure will be great expense!

Thanks!
Oz.

Any advice for me Tony?

should be pretty straight forward right? no sensors i need to change?

i still have all 4 lambda sensors having broken the S-Type for more than i paid for it! just got to get the engine mounted in the lotus chassis and a bell housing to the W58 and the emerald set up and off we go... (oh and upgrade the fuel system to fuel injection!)

might need a small brake upgrade, and higher spring rates on the front coil overs too...

still should be a 10 min job! lol! will have it running by 4:30 im sure!

any tip or advice would be appreciated though!

I only used 2 lambda sensors, everything else works and you can get the VVT working as well, I even kept the timing ring and fitted it inside my flywheel.

thanks for the tips... where did you put the lambdas?
just on one bank? or mid exhaust?
because of the age of the car i dont need to run a CAT or pass any emmissions tests which makes life easier, and De-Cat'ing should gain a couple of horses!

I de-catted mine also and used 2 bypass pipes where the cats originally were, the lamdas were fitting into this pipe
