I've fitted boyracer pedals from Halfords.

Chrome Sparco drilled pedal covers. Looks the nuts. £20 and 3-4 drill bits later there in. I would highly recommend, adds to the grin factor when climbing on board.

Fit the adjustable pedal set from Leven and you will add to the grin factor when driving too

do the Leven items offer more adjustability than the standard pedals?

Absolutely. But you need to get the set with adjustable throttle arm. It´s a nightmare to get the old throttle arm out though. A bit claustrophobic for someone over medium length...

Unless they have rubber non-slip inserts, they are illegal on a road car and you could fail an MOT depending on how picky the examiner is.

They are also very slippy with wet shoes. Carry a towel to wipe the sole of the shoes just in case.

I speak from experience!

Some quick answers about our pedals.

I have never heard of a car failing it's MoT with our pedals fitted. Our demostrator with the pedals fitted has been MoT'd many times in different stations and we have not even had a comment from the examiner.

The aspect of "very slippy with wet shoes" is a FAQ. We have never found this and none of our purchasers has ever come back to us with this comment. This may be down to the material (stainless steel not alloy) the pattern and the surface finish we use.

The Leven pedals do offer a significant aditional adjustment over the OE ones in that the throttle pedal can also be adjusted. Also due to the position of the mounting stud there is a small amout of left/right adjustment. We can also provide pedals for shorter drivers.

If anyone would like more information please telephone me

I managed to persuade leven to just sel me the adjustable throtle arm - as the shiney pedals are a bit iffy if you happen to have damp shoes when you get in - means they have to find an old discarded pedal off of clutch or brake to fit to the new thorttle - they are then are matched and as TVR should have done it in the first place - luckily had arm fitted at Main Dealler Service.

As an MOT tester without looking at the manual from memory I recall that as long as there is a grip surface of any description , it is a pass , it is only if the pedal is completely smooth it is deemed a failure.

Also, as they represent a modification I guess you will no doubt tell us we should notify our insurance company. R...

Nope you have done it for me.

Look in the DTweeks catalogue and others where it states that the Sparco and OMP pedals are for off road or show use only.

Joking aside, I have Leven’s stainless steel pedals fitted to my Griffith, along with 17"/18" wheels, an alternative cam from TVR Power and a few other modifications. With Steve’s advice ringing in my ears I mentioned all of this, verbally and in writing, to Peart’s when I renewed my cover - they made note but did not increase the premium. So that bodes well for next year when I tell them about the brake mods, ACT Plenum and chip change Rich…

The 520's list of mods now covers some 12 pages but also had no increase in premium. If you tell them, you in the clear, If you don't you have grounds for them turning you down if you claim. Before you say they don't bother, I know a couple of TVR owners who lost substantial claims because they were modified and the insurers did not know.
