I bought a Ibiza 1.8t FR in March this year, despite what others may think I absolutely love it, had it remapped to 215bhp and it goes so well its fantastic.

My issue is it isn't great on fuel. I used to rag my old Yaris T sport everywhere and it would do 33-34mpg no problem all day long. If I drive the Ibiza in the same way i'm looking at 23-24 so I purposely have to take it easy sometimes just so I'm getting closer to 30, I want to be able to enjoy the car all the time not just sometimes when my mpg allows.

I have done 10k miles since I got the car too, i'm starting to worry it might be time to resort to the dreaded "D" word.. frown

I can afford to run it comfortably it just seems like such a waste though to me I worked out i've spent about £2000 on petrol since I got the car in March.

This is probably not gonna work how I want, but can anyone think of a car which will do 30mpg comfortably over a spirited drive which is as fast or faster than what I have now and preferably is not a diesel for under 10k?

Other rules are not an old car (2003+) and no more than 40k miles on the clock.

So over 215bhp, not a diesel and more than 30mpg on a spirited drive? You want the moon on a stick.

I'd suggest a powerful diesel. Maybe a 120d or a 170bhp VAG of some sort, then get it chipped.

If you want the power, then you've got to accept that the MPG will plummet when you use it. I've got a Leon Cupra chipped to 300bhp. Driven gently it can do 35mpg on a long run. Driven hard, I can get 15mpg.

Why not just reset to factory settings? probably be better on gas and you will still have a car you like

Seeing as you like the ibiza, why not try a cupra diesel. Get it revo'd and you won't believe the pace of the little thing. I used to have one, sold it bought another now I have an elise and the cupra was quicker in a straight line. Plus mpg was around the 50 mark. Granted they feel a little heavier on the nose but wait until there's a group buy on cupra.net for a rear anti roll bar, combined with the front web it doesn't handle too bad.

Or get an elise as mine gets just under 40mpg!
