Right, I need to give in, and get something boring, Japanese, cheap to run and insure, and still five-seat plus boot.

I've owned a couple of cars like that, and I'd love to know where they're at now, and maybe have them again. Is this enough for the DVLA? I note on the V888 there is a box to tick if "it's a vehicle you've previously owned".

If it came to it, would they perhaps forward on a letter from me to the registered keeper? Without passing on their details to me directly?

Is it not better to go down the "blocking access to my driveway" route? Of course, I wouldnt suggest you lie!

It would need to be a fairly rare car to make me want to go back and re-buy something i'd sold in the past.

Has someone been rooting around in the junk drawer in the kitchen, you know, the drawer under where the microwave sits, and found an old key? tongue out

I've been tempted to try and buy back my old Octavia, but I figured it was just a bad idea. I think I read that it now has no rear seats and a veg-oil conversion.

Remember the car as it was, and not as it is now after successive owners have messed it up changed it to suit them.

Touche! I did love them both, but I dread to think what's happened in the four years since.

They're both Almeras, like I say, boring and Japanese - there's a fair few for sale, and also a couple of the last model Primeras in budget. Might get one with all the toys...

I've sent the DVLA a letter to pass on to a new keeper before now and it was sent on. I guess the bottom line is don't ask, don't get...
