Watching one show and the news recently and i am frankly fking annoyed with the students who think it there right to go on protest and start destroying building and rioting for a rise in tuition fees. Most of them are peaceful but they dont pay any tax most bum around doing pointless courses, moan when they cant get jobs after no supprise, moan that they are x amount in debt which they new anyway. Most get drunk on daily bases and when i was in school i was all about great social life which i can have without going to universitiy. Students leaving dont have to pay until they earn £21000 a year and have 30 years to pay it off and then it gets righten off. Wales arent increasing it, scotland no fee, and only high end university can charge 9 grand a year which is fair for a prestiagous university stop fking protesting about increases when it not effecting people in university now, get back to getting better education than us people who actually works and pay tax.

I take it you received no education then. Well, judging from your post.

Paddy Ashdown corrects a student

Listen to this - Paddy Ashdown asks a student if she understands the new proposals. Will you be shocked to find out she knows bugger all? :-D

I know my spelling is not great i left school with 10 gcse's so im not thick, i chose to go down the route of an apprentership. I dont protest about my wage not being fair and to be honest its rubbish but i new that when i started. what i dont like it students who think it their right to protest and riot because tuition fees are going up when it was clear that they would leave with high amount of debt.

I honestly think that around half of the protesters/rioters are doing it for attention. Not for increase of tuition fees and making that the excuse

You still pay it back. It is still money out of your pocket. It is like getting a mortgage before you properly start life

You would have to be pretty unlucky to never earn over £21k, you would be pretty unlucky if your first job is under £25k with a degree.

As somebody who is thinking about going back to university to study engineering, I am pissed off that I will have to pay up to 3x as much as the current students.

I see why people think that you should properly pay for your education but £6-9k a year is a lot of debt to get into, especially if it is a 4 year degree

The sad fact (IMO) is that a University degree is not worth the paper it's written on unless it's in a specialist field and the Student has a clear idea of a career path.

The amount of CV's that come across my desk in the most bizarre of subjects is frightening! I'm a lowly estate agent FFS! So they generally get a polite letter and binned.

Bring back proper apprenticeships!

It seems to me that since a Univeristy education has been opened up to the masses it's just an excuse to delay actually getting a job.

My lodger graduated last year, she now works for a car phone accesory company, three other of her friends work in a call centre and the fourth works as a delivery driver for a chinese, that was worth 3 years of study for sure!

Did you get an English GCSE? If so, what grade? Genuine question and it's a curiosity rather than a desire to take the p**s out of you.

Students protest because they can, they are able to take a day to do so. It is the same in many countries, and frankly sometimes they get results. Will anyone who saw it ever forget tiananman square and the solitary student who stood in front of a tank?

As for taxation etc I could bore you with the idea that many students will pay more tax and in respect of tuition fees, those who now vote (and did vote) for fees themselves attended university but did not pay fees.

No it isn't. 6-9k a year is nothing.

While you're pissed off that you may pay 3x more than current students, I'm very happy that I don't have to subsidise you. Maybe now people won't view university as a chance to get pissed for 3 years. Maybe now they'll view it more seriously.

6-9k a year is 2/3 times as much as current students pay and loads more than the older generation had to pay

You assume that everybody at University just get pissed. Sure, if you stick a load of 18-25 years olds together that is a major activity. But there is also studying, on a daily basis.

Don't give me all that st about pointless degrees. There are plenty of people who go to university with a career in mind after proper qualifications.

The tax payer should invest in the future of the country instead of giving everybody with a degree a mortgage

"It is cheaper because you do not pay until you are on £21k"

Any decent graduate pay will be above £25k so that argument does not stand

That's the point though isn't it? If you are lucky enough to get a job paying 25k on graduation you'll soon be earning a lot more and be able to pay it back.

And a lot of people cant get jobs after leaving university because of pointless degrees. If you go to university for a job needing it then fair enough but a lot seem to go just not to work and the average wage of people in the uk is around or just below 21k, i know a lot of people who come out of university and gone to work in asda that is a waste of time in my eyes

There where no tuition fees in the 80's

I believe you should pay but it is not fair to charge 2/3 times as much as people currently pay just because the government currently is in the st

Ask yourself when, or if, they start paying it.

There are a great many pointless degrees, and a great many people sitting them. They're offered because they get bums on seats, and because they earn money for universities.

Maybe if students realise that their pointless degree will cost them a lot of money, they'll be less likely to sit that pointless degree. Maybe they'll do something useful instead.

cartel said:

The tax payer is investing in those things, and frankly I'd love to know where you could get a £20k mortgage.
