About 5-6 degrees here - the worm casts(sp?) were solid and frozen but have now thawed.

Will taking a couple of mm of the grass damage it?

The results on google seem unclear.

You can mow the grass throught the year, just dont go as short as you would in the summer.

Move the cutter up a couple of notches

I'd leave it. Grass isn't growing and won't be for months so you'll just get cut ends open to fungi.

Maybe if you let somebody really depressing talk to your grass, it will cut itself?

I played My Chemical Romance to my lawn but there was no difference in the length; that said, the grass did start leaning more to the left covering half the path.

Not exactly on topic, but there was a story (? apocryphal) circulating in the late 80s of a surgical team who were confronted by the need to do a low abdominal incision on a young female punk whose pubic hair were dyed green, with a tattoo above saying "Keep off the grass". She woke up to find, in surgical pen, "Sorry, but we had to mow the lawn".

Late afternoon on Wednesday, just after the frost had thawed I raked up the leaves from the lawn and the beds. I then ran the mower over the top of the grass to tidy things up. It looks much better.
