Fully understand that most movies are fictional and writers/ directors use much artistic licence. Cannot grumble with that.

The thing which has bugged me for a while are movies which have weak, inconsistent or unexplained parts to their storylines.

Let me explain, with a couple of examples from 2 of my most favouritest movies, Predator (with Arnie) and Alien (with Sigourney Weaver).

The Predator is an advanced organism as it has travelled across space, and yet it all it wants to do is hunt men and skin them alive? Don't recall ET behving in that way a few years earlier.

The Alien was quite small when it emerged from John Hurt's stomach, but soon after that (I presume) it was 8 feet tall and full of acid? How? What was it feeding on?

Surely the writers were aware of these work points in the story?

These apparent plot holes do not prevent me from enjoying these films, it must be said.

There must be a zillion and one examples like this..............

Rich, succesful businessmen pay large sums of money to spend a week or two hunting big game in Africa. How do you know the Predator wasn't on his annual vacation from the Predator bank that he works in?

Trying to apply logic to storylines based on Earth organisms where the storyline is about Aliens is a bit pointless isn't it?

It's like saying the plot of IE4 is ridiculous because those alien spaceships don't have wings or engines so they shouldn't be able to fly.

Find better examples.

I bet the predator bank doesn't get many defaults on loans.

You can't compare ET and predator, different movies, different rules. As long as they maintain the internal logic of the film world I am ok.

I hate when people complain for stupid reasons, "this film is set in 1937, but the car he drives only came out in 1938, this film is technically inaccurate and crap" but the film is about wizards or aliens.
Or films that over explain (I'm looking at you Phantom Menace - Midicholorians ffs).

Indeed, those two in the OP aren't very good examples if at all.

The Terminator - if he succeeded in killing Sarah Connor, then there's be no reason for him to go back in time to kill her in the first place.

The Pursuit of Happiness; Will Smith's character managed to make a sort-of living out of selling the crappiest product I have ever seen, this would require excellent people skills. How did someone like that manage to go through life without any friends, did anyone turn up at his wedding? Which brings me to my next point: His wife should be banned from going anywhere near children. She was the sole bread winner most of the time, and she decided to leave knowing that her husband and son would be homeless by the end of the week. The only thing that stopped her taking him was Will Smith saying "OH NO YOU DI'ENT".

Based on a true story, my arse.

Imagine the Predator version of Alan Sugar? "You're fired" *fires plasma cannon* laugh

As for messed up storylines, watch Battle Royale 2, it's almost as if the director became confused with what he was writing and there was no storyline in the end laugh

IIRC the director died while making the film and his son finished it
