"Oil leak from rocker cover gasket"

Please forgive my ignorance on this one...
My 1.8 Mk1 had this on the advisory notice on the MOT. I've just got it back on the road and noticed it's consumed about a litre of oil in circa 1500 miles - which isn't too drastic but obviously there is an issue with the leak.
How expensive/easy is this to fix - or is it likely to be more of an issue than I first thought?

make sure you replace your PCV valve too (you are going to want a quality part here, so a trip to the dealer might not be a bad idea)
When you install the new gasket you should apply a little silicon gasket maker to the edges and make sure you torque the valve cover in the correct pattern to the correct torque. Look it up on google.
replacing the gasket shouldn't take more than an hour for somebody who is not mechanically inclined at all.
Hornetrider is probably right though, you're probably leaking elsewhere too (or worse burning oil). If your smoking from your exhaust, your likely burning oil.

I did mine earlier this year, very easy job to do if you've got the right tools (I invested in a low torque wrench as the torque settings for the cam cover bolts are very low) and doesn't require much expertise or time.
Whilst you're doing it you may as well change the CAS O-Ring at the back, it costs pennies, often leaks too, and is much easier to change whilst the cam cover is off, saves a nightmare job down the line and may actually be contributing to your oil loss as it leaks down the back and is harder to detect apart from the spots on the drive.

I'm not an example of what to do, but i've had my valve cover off 3 times in the last year, and i have not yet replaced the gasket. My car uses a special gasket (The regular one doesn't work) that I can only find at the stealership. I'm only gonna pay to get a new one if mine starts to leak.
