Hi guys just thought I would have a wee rant as its starting to get on my teeets. The amount of badly fitted headlamp bulbs up here in aberdeen is getting rediculous, You cant beat getting blinded when they are either behind you or coming towards, the driver will see a reduction in light I just cant figure why they dont take it to a garage and get it fixed. And the next is aftermarket xenons in oem headlamps ( non projector style), they are either a silly shade of blue or green and they blind you like mad, yes i know this xenon topic is a ongoing thread but FFS think of the other motorists. Ah thats better wee rant over

Round my way, they just turn their front fogs on to compensate. Clowns.

Funnily enough I was thinking about this exact thing this morning coming down the M621 into Leeds - tt behind in a Saxo with painfully bright, blue headlights. Even with my mirrors dim and my filthy back window they were excruciating frown

You must live near me, and everywhere I drive!

Front fog lights should be outlawed, or more realistically only operatable in conjunction with rear foglights - I think most people still have some kind of social consious regarding rear fog lights, and they'd be less inclined to use them just to "look cool".

A colleague of mine's car failed its MoT because the nominally legal bulbs he'd bought from a certain parts supermarket on every industrial estate near you were badly made with the filament skewed in the glass envelope. The result was a poor beam pattern. You could fit these any way you liked but they would still be rubbish.

I actually dont see the issue with fog lights on the front? If mine are on, then they shine downwards and "wide". I've used mine a few times in this weather to provide extra light on the ground immediate in front of the car to avoid ruts of ice and such like.

My fogs are same location as below if that makes a diff;

in my ex mechanic/mot tester days i have fitted those really akward to get bulbs, turn on the lights and realise straight away that it aint right, It doesnt really take a rocket scientist to work it out ( not calling myself thick though)if its garages doing it in aberdeen and elsewhere the guys really need a good slap

Couldnt care less. smile Clearly, fog lights on certain cars are brighter and angled different.

One car that springs to mind is the old Mk5/Mk6 Escorts? They seem mega bright and are always pointing upwards.

I have Xenons and the fogs are no where even near as bright as them.
