HiFi speaker upgrade options - any suggestions please?
Discussion
My current system is made up of a Marantz CD17 (modified) CD player, Sony TA-FB940R mosfet amp and Dynaudio 52 speakers (not SE).
I really like the sound of this system, but would like a little more 'slam' from the speakers.
The Dynaudios are sat on decent stands (Soundstyle Z1's) so I don't think better stands will make an awful lot of difference.
So the alternative option is a pair of floorstanding speakers.
Budget is limited to buying 2nd hand, up to £500.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what can give similar tonal qualities to the Dynaudios, but with more bass?
The only likely option I have seen (but not heard!) so far is a pair of Spendor S6's.
I listen to Blues and Rock mainly.
TIA

Can't comment on your Dynaudios but having heard the Spendors I think they are a little bass light. To be honest for the money I didn't rate them at all when I auditioned a pair many moons ago. They look great but found them a bit closed sounding.
I wanted quite a rich bass with a neutral midrange/top end and ended up with a pair of ProAc Studio 125's. They are superb and have been happy with them for years.

Another manufacturer worth considering is Castle, Howard and Harlech, interesting designs with an upward firing as well as front firing main driver and Avon, more conventional but with a downward pointing reflex port.
Googling will drag up reviews and they sometimes appear on auction sites and go for often not much money.
Castle actually went pop a few years ago but the name was purchased by IAG and they are now manufacturing Castle speakers again and, I believe, supporting most previous models.

Not sure if the amp would work with them but Yamaha NS1000m's have a very clean and fast sound without losing bass. Difficult to find because they have become a HiFi Favourite but could be worth a try. I'd also look at the Better JBL's, they are a bit of a minefield as so many are crap. Lastly Snell/ Audio Note E's. Very Sensitive and quick.
Just a further thought, which some might consider a "Snake oil" alert.
However, if you aren't using any form of "mains conditioning", for about £40, it's worth trying a Tacima CS929 distribution board on your current system.
If you discern no difference, well, you've a 6 way dis board to use around the place.

Also try different couplings to the stand to the floor. Spikes, blue tack, felt feet, rubber feet, etc all will have an effect on the sound, especially the bass. How are the speakers ultimately coupled to the floor?
They're on Soundstyle Z1 stands with spikes top and bottom.Floor is carpet over concrete, spikes penetrate all the way through.
Everything is leveled up, equidistant from the wall etc. (about 10 inches from the back wall).
I'm using QED Silver cable.
As can bee seen here, the stands are quite substantial - I just don't think the Dynaudios go down low enough.

I had a pair of Dynaudio DM 2/7s which I sounded rather thin with QED Silver XT cable. Try changing your cables to something copper. I've found Chord Silverscreen to give a fuller sound without reducing detail. Difficult to demo, but cheaper than a new set of speakers!
Cheers for that, I'll give some alternative cable a try.Just an update to say;
The 'slam' has been restored.
I changed the Sony Amp for a kit purchased off Ebay (2 x mono block modules) and also bought a 'Little Dot' Headphone / Pre amp.
The Dynaudio 52's now have some real deep bass!
I also changed the QED Silver speaker cable for some Gale cable I had in my 'junk' box.
