Hey

Brief outline, my dad and i bought a Corsa C 1.0 to do up and sell a couple of months ago, It soon became clear the best way to make money on the car would be to split it rather than fix. Anywork was to be postponed until the owner provided the logbook as he was switching his private plates to his new car but needed the car gone (so we bought it, cheap)

Anyway we only just got the Logbook this week from the previous owner in a completely unsigned form :\ He hasn't given us any other paperwork bar the logbook but i was able to check online that the Car has no MOT and the Vehicle tax status is unlicensed... Oh dear.

Anyway my father now wants to give the car to my sister and has had the engine repaired and tidied it up a bit. I'm not involved anymore since i have no real reason to be, but i told my dad i'd try and find out what to do next.

So the situation is.. We have a Car with no MOT or Tax that we need to get MOT'd. I've had a look over and can't see it failing, but how are we going to get it to the test center with no Tax?

We obviously cannot tax it without an MOT and can't MOT it without VED/Tax.

So what do we do?

And obviously with the vehicle being "unlicensed" does this mean the previous owner has forgot to Sorn it? Are there any implications that may arise because of this?

Regards
Danny

Get it insured, pre-book an MOT and, on the day of the test, drive the car directly to the test centre. For this journey, it will be exempt from having tax and MOT (but not insurance).

Insure it first then pre-book an MOT test and drive directly to the test. If it passes you can then tax it on your way home, if it fails take it directly home or place of repair fix the faults then re-test and if it passes then tax.

Get the car insured.

Pre-book an MOT.

Drive the car directly to the MOT station.

Hopefully pass, drive home, then tax the car.

Wrong. You can take it for test without MOT or tax as long as it is insured.
