Evening all, what's the brightest headlamp bulbs that I can get for my car, it's a panda 100hp and the current ones are like candles are need replacing, did see some that are illegal in Europe, will they damage the headlamps. Thank you for your speedy answers.

Osram nightbreakers and Phillips extreme seem to be the most popular.

Your headlight lenses are probably pitted and the reflectors are dull with age. Halogen bulbs get dimmer with age too so fitting new bulbs should show a difference..

Unless you pay for HID kits, I found Nightbreakers made a big difference. Circa £15.

nono There's a very good reason why they're illegal.

Will these not damage the head light unit?

Seriously, forget the high wattage option. Apart from being illegal, you'd also need to sort out wiring, relays, etc. It's not just a pop-in and go option.

The Osrams or Phillips options mentioned earlier in the thread will make the world of difference, and are also cheaper and easier.

Don't forget to call your insurance company so that they can charge you for the modification which makes you a lower risk.

Rubbish, I've put 100/80w bulbs in loads of cars, with no wiring mods at all. Also, never ever been picked up on it at either MOT time or been flashed. Just a better light spread and brighter. As long as you don't dazzle, it's fine.

Half the problem is tossers with badly adjusted beams.

www.powerbulbs.com has the latest autocar bulb test reports

I ordered some Osram Nightbreakers this week, yet to fit them though.

you might well have got away with 100 watt bulbs on standard wiring , but ive seen several switches and looms burnt out because of it

id never reccomend anyone use them without upgraded wiring and relays , plus the added heat will most likley melt modern lamps

the nightbreakers are plug n play and make a nice differance while being safe and legal blah blah, last thing anyone needs is the headlamp switch melting out in the middle of nowhere

Been struggling with low light-levels recently. Most of the problem is the salt baking on the plastic lenses in front of my "projector" style headlamps, but even when I stop to clean them, they seem dim. Another problem is that the kerbs are all black at the moment too which makes it difficult to see where the road ends.

So... I've just ordered a pair of Nightbreakers off Ebay for 14 quid delivered. Seemed reasonable if they're as good as people say.

I swapped the candles in my old S2 for some Nightbreakers and it made a huge difference. A definite safety advantage.

Quite a bit of variation in prices for Night Breakers on EBay. Are some of them fakes? Anyone care to recommend a seller?

These guys are really good. Any order over £10 is free P&P. Though I'm sure there are many more cheaper vendors:

Blimey. Hope not. Never thought of that. How will I tell when I get them?
