W163 ml430 steering issue

Had my first drive of my newly bought ml430 today after it passed it's mot.

But I have to say I'm a bit surprised at the almost total lack of feel in the steering, to the point where it didn't really feel connected to the front wheels.

I'm going to get the tracking done and check the tyre pressures but is there anything that's common to go wrong on the steering pump , rack etc?

I have a ml430 my self and am a merc tech, we dont really see much steeing issues ball joints wear out but if its passed an mot it shouldnt be that

only issues we ever see are when aftermarket wheels have been fitted

but genrally there spot on
