When I was a kid, sometimes in the morning you would awake to all the privet hedges being covered in frosty spider webs. We used to stripe the leaves off a longer twig and bend it over to collect the webs in a goooey mess. Why don't we see those mornings anymore?

Lads carrying old ladies shopping for them. It was a law that an old lady could call on any youth and demand they carry her bag home in the hope of 'a few coppers'. Didn't matter what you were doing, or even if you didn;t know the old lady, the law was the law and if you didn't offer to carry bags or do so on demand of the old dear your Mum got to know. When was that law repealed?

Nowadays it seems 'what ya gonna do then?' is the common comeback and it seems far too many parents think it's better to be their kids' best mate than their point of authority. Widespread trend and doesn't look good for the future I'm afraid.
