driving in SCANDANAVIA
Discussion
I'm thinking of planning a road trip through denmark, sweeden and norway in may/june time... kind of copenhagen, gothenberg, stockholm, oslo
I was wondering what the driving would be like ? I herad a warning that the roads can be very boring and featureless. Also would the road conditions be ok that time of year in southern Norway ?
I'd be grateful for any pointers or advice as if it's a bad idea then i'll switch it all to a trip round switz/italy/germany instead.

OP, you would not have any problems with weather at that time of year which I presume is what you mean by conditions.
Don't forget June contains midsummer so up in the North then we don't get any real dark.
Depends what you are looking for in terms of interesting driving tbh. Norway is more interesting than Denmark and Sweden which are fairly flat.
You can be covering long distances and trees, lake, trees, more lake, ooo look more trees can get monotonous, but it depends what floats your boat.
Lot of people think of Sweden as boring, but these people are the sorts who always have to be doing something, as in entertainment or visiting an attraction. Sometimes it's very relaxing just to spend time in the open air and just be. Denmark I tend to just transit through though the coast can be quite OK.
Depends on the weather and where you are but the midges take no prisoners in some places.
Driving can be quite easy and you can cover long long distances if you want with very little effort. Norway less so, difficult roads andv low speed limits.
Some days in Sweden I've pretty much gone from a fair way up North to right down South with hardly a need to tun cruise control off apart from round Stockholm. Traffic is so light that you can drive long distances at night without need to dip.
What else do you want to know?

In Norway, penalties and punishment for speeding can sometimes be more than for murder.
You have to be a bit hard of thinking to get caught though. Speed cameras are well marked, but they are battleship grey. Besides, you'll be in a UK car right ?Turn your lights on in the day, otherwise you'll stick out like a sore thumb.
Avoid Oslo during rush hour and Sunday night, there are roadworks, new tunnels and roads everywhere. The diversion signs are crap, so make sure your sat nav is up to date.
Having lived in S Norway, what ever the roads are they are not boring, the coast road from Oslo to Sweeden is not the best in Norway but the views on most Norwegian roads is certainky not boring.
Now the driving can be boring because of the speed limit and the fact that Norweginas stick to it, but if its a visit the view will keep it interesting, By may akll the roads will be open, infact the only 'big' road I can think of that closes in S Norway is Hunnerdal to Setterdal and that is west of your route and opens a few weeks after easter. you needn't worry about road or driving conditions in May
