my alternator on my m3 e46 appears to have let me down,im in need of a new one asap but aint keen on getting ripped off.can anyone give me some pointers as to where to get one from without having my pants pulled down please,many thanks

A friend had one fail on his E46 M3. Best VFM was German and Swedish at around £140 for a new Valeo unit.

BMW wanted over double.

I've always had failed Alternators overhauled for around £50 - £65 and I've never had to do one twice.

As above, German and swedish also try Euro car parts and your local motor factors (Look in Yellow pages)
You will find some parts are actually the exact same as BMW standard fit but about half the BMW price.

Same happened to mine a month or so back. GSF sell at £200 in the VAT.

Job is pretty straightforward as well.

Where are you based? If Staffordshire , I know a chap than can recondition it for you

I'm in Yorkshire,are these places ie german n Swedish to supply n fit or just supply only 'cos I know someone who'll fit it for next to nothin
